Trouble TTC

Ovulation nation

Has anyone heard of ovulating twice in one cycle? I had a positive ovulation test on d8 of my cycle (too damn early!), but then I had physiological indications of ovulation at d14 of my cycle, which would make more sense. I wonder if this is the reason for a low AMH, but wouldn't this mean double the chances of getting pregnant?!?!...which clearly is not happening.

No, I'm pretty sure you can't ovulate at two different times in one cycle. Ovulation tests (OPKs) detect the LH surge that signals your body is gearing up to ovulate, but they do not confirm that you did. It's possible you didn't actually ovulate when you got the positive test on CD 8. It's also possible that the O symptoms you felt around CD 14 didn't actually mean you were ovulating at that time.

ETA: Are you at the point where you're working with a doctor who is monitoring your cycle?

  • PPs already answered your question so I don't have anything to add there. I saw before you are trying clomid this cycle? Do you have a mid cycle ultrasound at all to see if you were close to ovulation/had follicles? Just curious and trying to help you figure it out!

I'm currently working with an RE and have not yet started the clomid. Once we start tracking my cycle, surely we can get to the bottom of this. My OPKs have been pretty erratic...ugh!

No, I don't have PCOS, but I'm sure it's not impossible to get false positives.
