Who sleeps when baby sleeps?

Who is sleeping when baby is sleeping, particularly when you put them down the night. We moved DS bedtime from 10:00 to somewhere between 8:00 and 9:00. But I usually don't go to sleep until 10. I use the time once he falls asleep to get ready for bed, some some time with DH etc. The problem is that DS wakes up around 1-2 for a MOTN feeding and then is up anywhere from 1-3 hours after that. So I am getting less sleep then I was before when DS went to bed at 10. I am going back to work next month so DS will be getting up around 5:30-6:00 to get ready for daycare (both DH and I start work at 7:00). So the earlier bedtime is something DS is going to need. Just curious if anyone else is in the same boat. Does anyone have a baby who sleeps for longer than 2 hours or so after the MOTN feeding? Thanks ladies, hope this makes sense!

  • I have not napped once since LO was born. I'm not a big napper. We put him to bed around 9-9:30 and we usually go to sleep around 10:30-11. We get in bed when LO does but we watch tv or read. When I go back to work in 3 weeks, I'll go to bed earlier because I wake up for work at 5:30

Not typically. I wish DS would go to bed early. But I used that early bedtime with DD to get stuff done and spend time with DH.

That said, if DS and DD are magically asleep at the same time during the day I have often tried to nap. I did today and it wad glorious!

  • My DD goes to bed between 9 and 10. I usually go to bed an hour ish later after I wash bottles, clean up, pump, etc. I start back to work Monday and at that point I will go down when LO does to maximize my sleep. Right now, DH is working from home so I can have him do the cleaning so I can get more sleep since I am up for LOs MOTN feedings since I bf. I suppose I am lucky since LO goes back down easily after she eats.

DS goes down around 7 and we get him up around 10 if he doesn't wake up to eat and then back down at 11 for the night. Ever since I went back to work this week, I've been falling asleep on the couch by 9, get up to feed him and officially go to bed when he does around 11.

  • LO goes down around 9 (as late as 10 if it takes her awhile). I do try to go to sleep as soon as she is down. If I don't take advantage of her long stretch (anywhere between 4-6 hrs) I'm a zombie the next day. I have a hard time falling back to sleep after MOTN feedings and then LO wakes up and makes more noise in thesecond and sometimes third stretches. Also DH's alarm and snooze go off at 5:30 which makes the second/third stretch even less restful
