TTC After a Loss

Can we talk about OPKs?

So I've never used an OPK and I want to get some. Anyone have any recommendations or tips? I went back to the blog and read the OPK section and that was very helpful. I guess I'm just curious what brand everyone uses and why.

When I used opks, I would just buy wondfo. They come in bulk, relatively inexpensive, and it only took one click on Amazon ;-)
Same here.  They work well for me and are cheap.  I test 2x day and usually get a + the day before I ovulate.

  • I use First Response OPKs and have always had good luck with them. I ran out of them and the store didn't have any more so I ended up having to buy some Clear Blue OPKs to finish out my cycle this last month and I didn't like them at all. I've gone the Wondflo route too and had good luck with them as well, but it's been years since I used them. I usually test twice a day as my surge is getting close so I don't miss it, which means I often go through more than one box (7) of OPKs, so perhaps ordering Wondflos in bulk is the way to go, especially if you want to test more than once a day. Good luck!

  • I use clear blue with the smiley face. Its easy to read. I think i would obsess over the darkness if the line on regular ones. The clear blue ones are expensive though

  • Another vote for wondfos. During cycles where I ovulate a little later, I sometimes use 15+ OPKs, so I refuse to spend a lot of money on them. I usually buy 50 OPKs and 20 HPTs from amazon for about $16 or $17.

I use the Clearblue digitals too. Definitely not the advanced (I think it says it predicts more days but it's confusing) I've been able to use the test holder more than the 2 month supply on the box. But I think if you test after a positive that month it gets messed up. I did that this month and got 5 smileys lol. Time for a new box.

  • I have used Wondfo and Clinic Guard, both really cheap as others have said.  If you are fairly regular and have noticeable o and post-o symptoms you may want to go with a brand that takes less guesswork (reading the lines can get frustrating).  If not, the cheap ones are the way to go.
  • I wouldn't either @mrandmrsk91011. By watching your temps now while you're tta, you can get an idea when you typically ovulate. Youll have a better idea when to use the opks to best catch o before your temp shift when you're actually TTC.

  • I agree with @Greeneyes842. Also, when I first started using opks, I used the cheapies, but also used a digi to confirm. Now I don't even bother with the digis.

  • I also vote for the wondfos, especially if you are anything like me and have a POAS obsession. Very cost effective so you can test twice a day if you want. Once we are clear to TTC again, I plan on confirming with the Clear Blue digital just to be safe so there is no real question about if I O'ed. This is all followed up with temping of course.

  • I'm a Wondfo user here. I have used the 1st response ones before and have a few boxes that expire soon so I will be using those up next cycle. I like Wondfos because they're so inexpensive and I can use 2 a day without breaking the bank.

  • Thanks for all the input ladies! I ordered some wondfos. If I have too much trouble, I'll switch to the digis.
