This is probably a silly question, but what should my LO wear for nap time at DC? At night time he wears a nightgown and a swaddler from the waist down (he can roll over, so we leave his legs loose and both arms out). During the day he wears a short-sleeve onsie, but it seems like he would get cold with his arms out and uncovered. At home he usually ends up napping in my lap (he's not a great napper) or on a blanket on the floor right near me, so I just tuck a blanket over his arms and keep a close eye on him. Should I just buy a bunch of long-sleeved onsies? (I realize I'm overthinking this, but I didn't want to buy a bunch of new clothes we didn't need if there was another option I wasn't thinking of...) Thanks!
Re: What should LO wear for nap time at DC?
I'm hearing that some daycares no longer allow swaddling (KinderCare)!
DD has always napped in what she was wearing for the day. Another reason to dress them in comfy, uncomplicated clothing.
I personally wouldn't worry that he would get cold unless the room was very cold.
Our daycare swaddles DD in a swaddler I bring. If I wanted her arms out they'd leave them out. I've seen them also swaddle the babies' arms and not legs. I'm not sure why that is.
Most of the kids come in sleep n plays or onesies with long pants b/c it's cold in the room. I usually do like a onesie with shorts, a light weight sleep n play, something similarly comfortable that she can sleep in and will look cute in all day...not that she normally wears the same outfit all day what with spit up and the occasional crazy blow out.
i asked my dcp to not swaddle or use blankets. i dressed ds in warm clothes, and asked that if he soils his clothes that he arrived in to dress him in particular layers. he is a warm sleeper and i would rather him be safe. the dcp in my state are to follow regulations (of course!) and not use swaddles or blankets for children under 12m. i would question the procedure with naptime with my dcp provider before ever sending a swaddle or blanket - do they have a separate nap room? how often are they checking the babies visually without relying on a monitor? do they have a provider in the separate nap room? they seem foolish, but i have worked in a dc setting, and it does get hectic with lots of infants, and you should be constantly checking. we had a separate nap room, and we would have one provider in the naproom to not only put the babies to sleep, but to continuously check on them. we would have things to do quietly so we were not getting paid to watch them essentially just sleep.
