UPDATE:Woke up in so much pain 3 times last night.

I know that "leg cramps" come along with being pregnant, but whatever I have been experiencing is a whole different demon. This was no Charlie horse. I had this happen twice last week, and was going to mention it at my next appt, but last night it woke me 3 times and I called the doctor .
So I am asleep ( on my left side) and everything is fine,then when I go to shift positions, it feels like I am being stabbed with a burning hot knife in my upper thigh ( front) right below my belly. It feels like my skin is being torn open. I wake up screaming and usually cry my eyes out. When it subsides, my leg feels numb and tingly ( with a burning sensation all the way from thetop of my thigh down to about mid-thigh. )
This happened 3 times last night and even now my leg is tingling and burning.
I called the doctor and they want to see me today. I'm nervous because they want to see me, but hoping for at least an explanation and some suggestions on easing the pain.
Anyone had this? Any ideas on what it might be? Am I overreacting by being worried about baby?

Edited-because I posted it by accident with my fat fingers before I was done typing. And edited again for the many typos again thanks to fat fingers!
Update: doc says most likely baby and uterus are sitting on a nerve. Says it may get better when baby lifts and pops outwards more....or it may get worse as she gets heavier. Gave me some ideas about sleep positions (lay propped up, thicker pillow between legs...) and told me to take Tylenol or Advil ( which he said was ok in small amounts until I am 32 weeks....I still think I will use as last result) and use of ice packs or warm compress if either help discomfort. So good news is-I will live and baby is fine! Bad news...there may be nothing much I can do to make pain stop except hope baby gets off this nerve!! In other news...baby sounded great on Doppler and still enjoys hiding from it. Everytime he found her heartbeat...she would wiggle away and he would have to chase her!
