Mixed race babies roll call

Hi,
Wondering if any of you are bringing a beautiful mixed race baby into this world in March? If so, what are your mixtures?

I'm Caucasian (half German, half Norwegian) and DH is Indian (from India).

Really curious if this baby will look anything like me!

  • Yep, Our baby will be Russian/Mexican
  • I have a feeling I will get a lot of the same questions! I'd love to join your board. Thanks!
  • I'm white (German Belgium background) and my husbands Colombian. Of all his siblings he has the lightest skin tone but I said he might have some dark DNA & maybe our baby will be very dark. Chances are it'll be in between:) either way were happy

  • My husband is Honduran and I'm Caucasian. For our kids the dominant gene does seem to be the darker genes. I'm extremely fair, blue/green eyes & have light brown hair/red highlights. My husband has medium/dark brown skin, very dark brown eyes & black hair. Both our kids have light/medium skin (& tan very easily), dark brown hair and the same dark brown eyes as my husband. Both look a lot more like him than me. That's ok though. :) we're excited to see how this baby will look! His family is hoping for light eyes.

  • My daughter is technically interracial, but it's not something I honestly think about very often. I'm white, but my husband is 1/2 Puerto Rican and 1/8 Mexican. She looks just like me though. I really thought she'd get his black hair, but she's got dirty blond hair.

ETA not that I claim to know much about genes.. I just for some reason assumed darker features were more dominant lol. Perhaps that's pretty ignorant

@jessuhmarie So I'm noticeably brown, with dark hair and dark eyes. I got bored one night and did the math and figured out that there's actually a somewhat decent chance that my kid could be blonde hair, blue-eyed. That would freak me out lol
This going to be our third child. I'm white (pretty much all of Northern European) and my husband is 1/2 Mexican 1/2 Puertorican. BOTH of our children are milky like me,fiery RED hair, and brown eyes! On so many occasions strangers ask my husband if the kids are his!?!? This time around I'm really hoping for a Carmel skin, dark hair and blue eyed baby!!!!
  • Ops! In not too sure why or how my reply got mixed up and added to someone else's reply!
  • Sounds like March is due to welcome some gorgeous babies! I'm a 5'3" German, he's a 6'1" Mexican... Hoping for dark hair/skin and light eyes, but more than happy with any healthy combination we're blessed with.
  • I am white (Scottish, German, English) African American, Puerto Rican

    DH is white (French-Canadian, German)

TMaggie0424JM0848 we are both having quapas  (the hip name for 1/4 asian babies.)  I have tons of friends with quapas, and the range in phenotypes is impressive.
  • I'm white with brownish reddish hair and green eyes, my husband is Persian with light yellowy brown eyes and dark hair. He is really fair and had almost blonde hair as a kid, so I'm hoping for some greeny yellow eyes and maybe pale features. I have blue/green eye alleles and my husband obviously has yellowy green/brown so there is a 50% chance the eyes won't be brown! :)
Curious to see what green or blue + yellow makes :)

  • So me and my SO are paying the ultimate "Russian roulette" as we like to call it. We are both mixed black and white. Our mothers are very pale white and both natural dark red heads with blue and green eyes. Our fathers are dark as can be. Both me and SO have olive skin and curly hair. I am very curious to see what traits our baby is going to have!

TMaggie0424 people frequently try to speak to me in Spanish!  It's a common joke among hapas -- that everyone thinks we should speak Spanish!    There are some funny hapa websites out there with other hapa-isms.

meladoriestar 23andMe is a fun/entertaining thing if you are mixed. I was able to compare DH's raw chromosomes with mine and basically see the odds of different combinations for our potential children. Obviously, still too many variables to know for sure, but totally interesting.  ETA: I originally took the test for health reasons, but the ancestry part ended up totally sucking me in, just from a nerdy historical perspective.

  • TikTak  It's so entertaining, what people assume based on phenotype.  I feel like I've learned so much about people just by being ambiguously not white.  Sometimes I feel like a spy, because no one knows how to really classify me.

  • meladoriestar I had the exact same thing happen to me.  Multiple times.  I guess my Midwestern accent got me off, but it bugged me that my husband, sitting right next to me, never got questioned.
  • Yes! Sooooo mixed! Japanese/Colombian/African-American/Bahamian
  • My husband is black and Hungarian and I'm Irish our boys have light skin and blue eyes people ask him if there his all the time
  • I'm half black half white. DH is half white half Filipino. I have brown eyes dark hair. DH hazel eyes dark brown hair. DS has light golden brown hair with a blond spot above his ear and greenish/hazel eyes. The change from day to day between green/grey/brown and one eye is noticeable darker than the other. Can't wait to see how this LO will look

  • I'm Filipino mixed with French, Spanish, Native American, and some Chinese thrown in for good measure. lol. DH is African-American with some Native American thrown in and our son looks like an exact mix of both of us. When he was born, he looked EXACTLY like DH's newborn photos. He also had grey eyes but they changed to brown by the time he was 6mos. Since DH's grandfather had grey eyes, it was a total possibility they would stay.

Btw, @TMaggie0424, I am impressed you are trying to learn to speak Tagalog! I think you will have an easier time since you do know Spanish. A lot of the words are similar, just said with a different accent.

I learned a few months back that the blonde spot is actually a birthmark. (Two of my nephews have one)

I'm white (English/Irish) and my husband is half white (German) and half Filipino. DS has my face shape, but other than that all of his features come from DH.

  • Me - Filipino, 5'4", tan skin, dark eyes, dark wavy hair

Hubs - Mexican, 6'3", fair skin, green/hazel eyes, dark curly hair

  • I am Mexican and have red hair and light skin with freckles. No one ever believes me. H is Italian with dark skin. I would love a red haired baby, since we are a dying breed, but not likely! All good.
