Cloth diapers

I'm late in the game and decided in one of my middle of the night feedings that I wanted to start cloth diapering. Now that you CD ladies are in full swing what are your fav's? How many should I have in my stash?

Re: Cloth diapers

  • I did see it but I didn't know if people changed their minds on brands they liked or didn't like. I'll check that out more though. Thanks!

  • We use bum genius 4.0s and so far really like them. I stuff them as soon as they're dry which is nbd to me. We have 22 and do laundry every other day

  • We're still using newborn AIOs and pockets.  LO is just now, at 6 weeks, 8 lb and 21 inches.

At first we had a lot of leaks (I think because LO was so small), so we are just now getting back into CDs and use them part of the time.

My favorites are the Blueberry Simplex.  I also like Lil Joeys and Smart Bottoms.  My least favorite is Grovia.  They always leak despite the fact that they seem to fit.  Bum Genius and Thirsties are okay.  LO still doesn't quite fit into Charlie Banana and OsoCozy.

  • If you want to ease into cloth, I definitely suggest doing a trial - place's like Jillian's Drawers and others have trials that don't cost much and allow you to try different brands and different types of diapers.  You'll find that you have particular preferences, and what works for your baby may be different than others.

If you check the link in my siggy, I explain the different types and give pros and cons for both.

I tend to use pockets for day and DC, fitteds for nighttime.
Favorite pockets: Bumgenius 4.0 (fave with M, same with S), Blueberry Deluxe Pocket
Favorite Fitteds: Twinkie Tush (often with Sustainablebabyish wool)

I just ordered 20 4.0 and have a about 4 randoms that I trialed before committing to cloth diapering and a specific system. Love the way they fit and wash/dry as compared to rumparoos, itti bitti tutti and gro via hybrid. So exciTed for them to arrive!

We had the same problems with Grovia so I sold them. LO is a skinny kid and the legs just never had a good fit, no matter how hard I tried.

Another huge fan of Blueberry Simplex and Blueberry Mini-pocket, esp for overnight. Thirsties AIO are my fav for out and about as they absorb a pretty good amount without needing stuffing.

  • @spittler2 NB simplex solely right now. I'm hoping to give their deluxe pocket a try when he gets big enough as I've heard really good things about it (not so much the econappy)

For those not on their mailing list Blueberry is going to be rolling out new prints soon! :)
