Overnight diapers

For those of you who's LOs are sleeping through the night, what is your go-to overnight diaper? LO slept 7+ hours the last few nights (yay!) and he's woken up soaking wet every time. I know nothing's perfect... We've been using pampers baby dry and were happy with then until now. I'm also wondering if it's time to go up a size.

Re: Overnight diapers

  • I would go up a size for nighttime and see if that helps. If you still have issues get the overnight diapers in that next size. I think I've heard Huggies are the better overnights.

  • Yeah I'd go up a size. We use huggies snug and dry size 2 and they work great! LO is 12 lbs

The only diapers that have contained explosive poo/pee consistently are targets brand, up&up. My baby sleeps 6-9 hours at night.
  • Try going up a size first, as PP said.

The Parent's Choice overnight diapers from Walmart worked well for DS. Not quite the quality of Huggies, but the savings was worth it to us.

    DD: 5/22/14 | 9 lb 9 oz, 21.5 in

  • We just use the same diapers for day and night and they've always been fine. DD is 11wks, approx. 10lbs and wears size 1 pampers. She sleeps 12 hours at night.
  • I didn't like baby dry diapers. We have just been using regular swaddlers and they work just fine. 7-10 hours on average.

Thanks everyone! I'll try going up a size. Otherwise it looks like trial and error.

  • Try upsizing. We didn't need overnights for DS until closer to a year, when moving up a size didn't cut it.

With DD we used a Pampers for overnight when she was closer to 1, and just the cheapest store brand when she was younger.

Now DS is in cloth, and we use a BG Elemental that lasts us all night.

I don't think the Pampers overnights are very good. We like the Target brand best, even for overnights.

  • My favorite have been pampers swaddlers! I had a diaper raffle at my shower and got a ton of different brands and kinds. We have found that these have worked the best so far. I have heard that Huggies works better for boys however. Not sure if that's true or not and I'm sure they are great for girls as some of you have said but for is they just don't hold it all. She is about 13 lbs now and is in size 2

Thanks again everyone. I'm going to try going up a size at night. I was trying to hold off since we have so many size 1s left but I don't want DS soaked every morning!

  • We have had good luck with Luvs. Way better for us than Huggies

I just tried Luvs and it seems when LO pees, the gel is so much thicker than other brands. His diaper looks so full but it is so light. Do you notice this?
  • We use pampers baby dry or swaddlers. He is in size 2 and is 14 lbs. Been sleeping ~9-10 hours at night

When I saw "overnight diaper" I instantly thought "you could try a double-stuffed pocket", but realized this isn't the CD board. lol.

Colin spent the night at my mom's last week and I sent him with Up & Ups (size 1, since that is his weight range). She had no problem with those and he slept the longest stretch of his life (7 hours).

I have felt the diapers and it seemed that they were fuller than they actually were. We have definitely experienced that with Luvs. This hasn't really been a huge issue for us as LO is very fussy about even the least bit of wetness in her diapers anyway. Can't beat the price on Luvs though. We have amazon mom and subscribe and save and they are so much cheaper that way!

Ya, it is worth the savings I think. I'm going to give it a week and then see what I think. I just get annoyed when my sister and my mom say "wow his diaper is really wet!". Makes me feel like they are saying I don't change him enough. Then they feel how light it really is

This has been our experience as well. Go up a size and use huggies.

  • We use Baby Dry until they hit size 3 and switch to Extra Protection.  I always size up my night time diaper before my daytime diaper.  Just as long as you can get it tight enough on the waist.

We tried swaddlers size 2 last night and no leaks! I know nothing is foolproof but at least it's progress. We're going to go up a size at night until we run out of the size 1s. Thanks everyone for the help!

  • I haven't had a problem with Huggies Snug and Dry or Pampers Baby Dry. I put a dry one on her around 830 pm and usually change her between 5 and 6 am.
