AW: RE phone call

My RE finally just called me back to discuss my testing. Apparently she's been away. They haven't received my HSG report from the hospital (WTF? It was over a week ago!), so she's going to have someone from the clinic call to request that today. She said that the additional thyroid tests they did showed antibodies in my blood, so I'll likely have to continue with thyroid medication indefinitely. They'll run the tests again when I've been on the medication for 4-5 weeks to see if I need the levels adjusted or anything. In the meantime, she said we can continue to TTC on our own, but we won't start any treatments until we confirm that my thyroid levels are under control, which is what I assumed.

So, basically, a summary of my testing results is this:

FSH-normal

E2-normal

AMH-normal

TSH-high

T4-normal---she didn't specify this, but that's what it says in my results on the patient portal.

THAB and TPO (thyroid antibodies)- high

Hopefully the HSG report will be faxed to them soon and then I'll get a call about that to find out if my left tube is definitely compromised. She also told me to call the office to schedule a consult to discuss all of our options. I'm not in a huge hurry because we probably won't start treatment until September, at the earliest, but I'll probably call to make that appointment today just to have it done.

I'll update this thread later if/when I get a call about the HSG.

    I agree with amybunny30. You're a human, not just a lab report. I'm sorry it's taking long for them to get the results back. Big hugs!

    Getting results back can be so frustrating.
    I hope the results from HSG come soon and that those anti bodies respond to medication

    4 Losses (2003, 2008, Apr 2012, & Oct 2012)
    All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal

    5 IUIs = BFN

    Yeah, it's crazy that the hospital never sent it. What's the point of them doing it if they're not going to send the results to my doctor? You'd think stuff like that wouldn't get overlooked.

    I'm relieved that everything other than the thyroid stuff came back normal. I was caught so off-guard last week with that diagnosis that I was afraid I'd be surprised by other things too. I'm still baffled that my levels seem to be so high, though, considering I don't seem to have any symptoms. Even this morning, my RE said, "You'll probably find that you feel a lot better once you've been on the medication for a few weeks." Um...I didn't feel bad! So strange.

    Hopefully the medication helps and we can move forward with a plan sooner rather than later.

    I'm glad you were able to get some answers. Hope your hsg comes back today and you can come up with a good plan!

    Glad you got some answers and hopefully the hospital sends the reports! I hope the meds get that thyroid in check. You may feel a little different even if you didn't realize you had symptoms.

    Current plan: IVF with PGD. Antagonist - Vivelle Protocal. Stim start 12/1. ER 12/14.

    I'm glad you're getting some answers! Are they putting you on Synthroid? Name brand vs generic is very important. Let me know if you have any thyroid questions at all. And even though you don't think you felt bad...you may find that you have a lot more energy in the coming weeks. If your TSH doesn't respond, make sure they test your T3 as well. T3 is super important and most doctors ignore it.

    I hope they send your HSG results ASAP. Geez! How annoying that it is taking so long!
    @HoldingOutHope, I started on Levothyroxine last week. If my TSH doesn't respond in 3ish weeks when we test again, I'll mention Synthroid and checking T3.

    I'm glad that you've got a plan shaping up. Fx that the thyroid meds help & that they get your HSG report over soon & there's some more good news for you there.

       Me: IR-PCOS, elevated DHEAs, low progesterone, weak ovulation  DH: low volume, low T
    SHG 5/10/13: both tubes blocked; HSG 6/28 = Left tube cleared! Right blocked.
    BFP#1 7/20/13 EDD 3/30/14, m/c 8/19/13, D&E 8/21/13, Chromosomal results = normal, female
    Lap & hysteroscopy scheduled for 10/31, right tube cleared, no endo found! ...Happy Halloween!
    Cycle 14: Clomid (50)+ IUI = BFP! EDD 9/16/14~ Rowan Elizabeth born sleeping at 17w4d on 4/12/14 due to IC.

    They do monitoring appointments on weekends, but I don't think they have anyone there that answers the phones. They didn't call, so I guess I'll have to call them on Monday.
