Has anyone with past pregnancies ever compared FRER with knock off brands? The Wal-Mart tests I'm using now claim to be early readers and comparable, but generics of some things can be no good (like trash bags...big mistake).
How do you mean compare? Like compare positive results? Or just how sensitive they are? Sorry I don't really understand.... I may be reading your question wrong.
As in got a positive on the name brand, but not on generic? I realize it's a reach, but I also know of some people that confirm with multiple tests just to make sure.
Not sure what kind of comparison you're looking for but the site below is all about peeing on things and "rates" pee sticks...maybe it would be helpful to you???
Personally, I test with a cheapie, usually wondfo, but I've used dollar store and walmart too, then confirm with a FRER.
I see. I don't have too much experience there. When I tested for my last 2 cps I had faint positives on both wondfo and frer but those are the only brands I use. I would think any test would be okay to use (minus blue dye).
I'm not a huge believer in the Dollar Store/Dollar Tree pregnancy tests. With my DS it was obvious I had a line on a FRER. After I was about 4-5 weeks pregnant I found a cheapie in my drawer and used it out of curiosity. Even at 4-5 pregnant the line was not as dark as I thought it should be. So I use the cheapies to satisfy my OCD of needing to pee on things while TTC

Most people here use a cheapie to dip (mostly wondfo or dollar tree, etc) and then confirm any line with an FRER. From there, because many SO/DH's lack an appreciation of the fine art of line reading, many then dip a digi for the "pregnant."
I wouldn't waste my time comparing brands. Sounds like more hassle than its worth.

DNA Results (7/1): DH is NOT a carrier for my genetic disorder!
7/3: Metabolic clinic gave the green light to TTC - holy crap!
When I worked at the doctors office we used the cheap pregnancy tests they usually came back positive before the test was even done. I think the cheap ones work great if you're already a day late.
I used the walmart cheapies the day before my period this cycle and got darker lines than on the FRER. But 3 days later I got a negative on the walmart cheapie even though my betas had tripled (got the beta results the next day). That would have been a mind fuck but I really did lose it the day I got the beta results as indicated by heavy bleeding. But that would have been seriously awful if a false negative made me think I had lost!
Bottom line: Going forward I will continue to use the walmart cheapies but take 2 tests each time. Its only $2 and I will hopefully mitigate my false negative risk.
I've never gotten Evap/confusing results on the dollar store brands. All pregnancies popped up on those before I got even a squinter on an FRER.
I've never had the reverse be true. Generally, if you follow the directions & read in the time limit then FRER results are iron clad. If you got a positive on an FRER I'd say you are KU.

My experience is that I used a wal-mart cheapie(first signal?) and got a squinter. The same day I used a frer and the line was pretty obvious.

Dip another FRER in the morning?
