I went into the ER two nights ago after having horrible stomach and back pains... Could hardly breath. They found I have a ton (he said a bag full of marbles worth) of gallstones... They don't want to do surgery because of the baby until it is born.. But 6 months seems like a Long time to wait! I've been put on Percocet (when needed) and pills for nausea .. Anyone else expierence this so early? Working on the diet change now to lots of fruits and veggies! I'm 13w 5d . Thank you for any advice :) Sam

Re: Gallbladder stones

  • I had gall bladder problems before pregnancy and had it removed before this LO as flare ups are common in pregnancy with a preexisting issue. Avoid dairy when possible and fried foods. Fruits and veggies are a good choice :) Good luck.

I went to ER one night for the same thing. I usually get kidney stones, that was the night that i found out that i was pg. they didn't do any tests that night so idk for sure if it was kidney stones or not. that was about 3 months ago. just had my kidneys checked and they were fine but they found a large stone in my gallbladder. They don't plan on doing anything about it till the baby is born.... So far the only pain and nausea i've had was that one night. good luck i wish you the best.
  • During my second pregnancy I had the same thing. Since my liver function was okay surgery would be after baby was born. Changing diet and more water helped.

  • I know this is a little late... I am also experiencing gallstones during this pregnancy (I'm 22 weeks). My first attack sent me to the ER at 11 weeks. I have had two small attacks since then, and nothing for about a month. I was also given Percocet and anti nausea prescriptions. I have had 2 surgical consults, one said remove the gallbladder, and the other said wait until after pregnancy. I have decided to wait, so I have completely overhauled my diet. I probably get around 2-3 grams of fat per day, and I am so very very careful with everything I eat. It's not fun, but having those attacks is something I never want to repeat, especially during pregnancy! I am hoping I can make it through to the end without another, but to tell you the truth that first attack scared me and frankly I have been quite paranoid. I hate to say it, since everyone has told me to enjoy this pregnancy (my first), but I will be relieved when it is over and I am actually able to see my baby :) sorry if this was a downer - I really feel, for you though, good luck with the remainder for your pregnancy!
