Fetal movement in last month of pregnancy

I am just wondering if there has been any change in fetal movement in the last few weeks and if your doctors or midwives had said anything about what to expect. I get NSTs every week anyway, but I for my entire pregnancy I mainly feel her at night. Just curious as to what it has been for everyone else and if there is any difference now.

Re: Fetal movement in last month of pregnancy

  • I actually notice her movements more now, probably because she is so cramped in there. I feel her throughout the day, doesn't seem to have a real pattern.

  • I feel a lot of movement after mealtimes. I'm pretty sure he's still flipping between anterior and posterior quite a bit but hopefully will stay head down.
  • Some days I feel him non stop and others I barely feel him. There's no consistency at all with this LO.
This. It scares me to death. Most of the time his sleepy days are on days that I have NSTs and that really sucks.
  • I was freaking out about the movement so I started using a kick counting app to monitor movements at bedtime everynight. I eat or drink something with sugar in it and then count atleast 6 movements in 2 hours because my dr said that is what I should expect to get.
  • Thanks, ladies! This makes me feel a little better:-)

  • I used to go days without feeling a thing, but now I feel her move constantly.

  • I still feel consistent movement but it has changed to bigger rolls instead of many smaller kicks, she also is breech so that makes a difference, But she doesnt have the space to power a huge kick anymore
  • I feel her try to move around but she doesn't have the space to kick and punch anymore. It's a lot more of rolling movements. She's also decided she likes nighttime lately.

  • Her movements are sporadic but very strong, almost to the point of painful for me sometimes. Last weekend I did have a scare when I realized that I hadn't felt her all day, but when I drank some juice and laid down, I got some kicks.

  • She was moving all the time for a few weeks. I'm talking hours on end, multiple times per day. It's slowed down recently, although there's still plenty of movement according to kick counts, but it totally freaks me out by comparison. I think I'm just getting paranoid now that we're so close to the end.

She used to have a good pattern as far as what time of day she was moving. Now I feel her all day (and night).

  • Mine has been interesting - a mix of movements that feel like the punches and kicks I used to get, and stronger pushes/jabs/nudges that just feel like he's stretching? It's definitely intermittent. When I get up I feel him for a bit, and then sporadically through the afternoon and more intensely at night.

  • I feel like our little one is lazy during the day - or napping. He gives me some movement at lunchtime and seems to be a night owl in that he really moves around when it's time for me to go to bed.
  • I was wondering if anyone is experiencing something like this... LO likes to nudge himself into a position where it's like I have a bowling ball shape protruding out under my right rib (he's head down so assume this is his butt) . But it's like his whole body just bunches up in one spot. This is painful so I rub it continually until he sort of disperses out more widely again. The thing is that he must like it - or he's forced into this position - because he keeps going back to it! So several times a day, I have the exact same discomfort, same deformed belly shape, that I have to rub out over several minutes.

I get nervous sometimes about forcing him out of that spot since for whatever reason he keeps going back to it.

  • All movement no matter how small is painful at this point. I feel everything and it's like watching the alien scene happening in my belly.

Like many people have said, I used to feel him all the time.  Now, I'll feel a kick here or some rolling there, but nothing like before.  The doctor said his butt is facing my stomach now, which is why I can't feel him as much, however it still freaks me out.

  • I am feeling less movement, and weaker movement now at 38+ weeks than what I had been feeling.  But at my last check the doctor said that her back is facing more out, and her legs and arms are facing in, so I will not be feeling the kicks and punches as much now.

  • I still feel her often, but it's less dramatic movements, more of a roll or a butt/foot sticking out of the side of the bump or something like that

This. I don't feel her as often now.. It's usually I know when she wakes up because she stretches out her little foot in my left side. She also presses up with her butt on top of my stomach. It's pretty sporadic.

My babe sticks her butt out exactly like you're describing. My first baby did it too. Must be something comfortable about it for them...not for us moms, that's for sure!

  • This little one doesn't stop moving from about 9:00 AM until 10:30 PM. Then both of us crash. I don't even have to do kick counts because there are well over 10 movements an hour. And I'm pretty sure this kid is all limbs. I'm still fairly early (36 weeks) but everyone at work stares at my belly because it's constantly in motion.
  • I have weekly NST scans and she drives the nurses crazy cause she won't sit still.. I think the sound of the monitor freaks her out.. Weekly ultrasounds she is always asleep and we can never get her to move... She's on her own schedule.
