Pregnant after a Loss

Please talk me down

Sorry to be an AW lately, but I need someone to tell me I'm over thinking this and being ridiculous. I can't stop googling and worrying about the worst possible outcome.

Here are my betas:
11dpo - 18
14dpo - 102 (29 hour doubling)
16dpo - 210 (49 hour doubling) - 14 dpo and 16dpo taken at different times of day

I had an appt with my RE yesterday at 4w2d due to my history. He said that he would have expected my initial beta to be higher, but was encouraged that my 2nd beta went up nicely. I heard back on my 3rd beta today and I know that it's still within the normal doubling range, but I'm worried that the doubling time slowed down so much. They weren't going to have me come back in for another beta, but I asked if I could and I go back tomorrow. I'm really trying to be positive about this pregnancy, but I'm sick with worry that this will be my 5th loss. I'm over-thinking this, right?

Re: Please talk me down

  • ((hugs)) Is the different time of day factored into the doubling time? If not, betabase lets you put in the time of day so that it's an accurate doubling time. Sending T&P that tomorrow's beta is a great number!

    @haleyusf - Yep, the different time of day was included, otherwise it would have been a little under 48 hours, so I put that in for clarity. Thanks for the hugs!

    My beta's were really low like you're in the beginning as well. 21 weeks tomorrow and everything is looking great!

    Do they have plans to get you in for a viability/dating u/s?

    Good luck! I know it's hard seeing such low numbers in the beginning, especially when other ladies have huge numbers!

    I have another u/s next week, but I'll only be 5w2d, so not sure if we'll be able to see anything. The wait is horrible!

    My RE said they want to see at least 100 at 14dpo, so I was good there, but I'm worried about the doubling time slowing down. And that my betas with DD were so much higher (14dpo-295, 16dpo-705, 19dpo-2200ish). Ugh...I wish I could just be blissfully ignorant!

  • I don't have any answers for you but just wanted to say I'm thinking of you. They are going up, so try to focus on that. I know that it's tough to do though.
  • You betas look great! Seriously! My beta at 12dpo was 26, so not much higher than yours. I was nervous, too because I had gotten my BFP the day before and it was *only* 26. But, I'm 16w now and LO looks great. Your doubling time is great! Anything from 48-72 is a normal doubling time. I had higher betas with my DD, too, but every pregnancy really is different. You can't compare the two. I hope your u/s goes wonderfully! At 5w2d you'll probably be able to see a sac. Don't get discouraged if you don't see much. It's still very early.

  • My first beta at 14dpo was only 83 and had a slow doubling rate. I asked for a third beta as well to help calm me down! 5w is early for an u/s- At my 1st u/s (6w2d I think?) everything looked good, and I'm 19wks now :)

    Fx for great progress and some news to ease your mind !

    I think those betas look pretty good, actually. You have to start somewhere and you are still quite early. You're getting betas during the dpo days, I never had betas that early. ;)

    Just for you, I went and looked up my betas (all three start around 6 weeks gestation so much further):

    DD: 194 (2d)-->531 (2d)-->1465 (4d)-->5449

    My m/c: 26 (2d)-->30 (2d) --> 31

    This pregnancy: 82 (2d)-->238 (2d)-->510 (2d)-->1068 (2d)-->2510

    BFP #1: It's a GIRL! DD born October, 2012
    BFP #2: m/c at 7w, February, 2014
    BFP #3: It's a BOY! Please be our rainbow! Due February, 2015

    *everyone always welcome*

  • Well, today's beta was 361. Not as high as I would have hoped, but my RE said it's still within the normal range (58 hour doubling time). I'm trying to hold out hold, but am so terrified.
