Is anyone's amniotic levels low?

My levels were at 7.3 today and it scared me . Has anyone's levels ever been that low ?

Re: Is anyone's amniotic levels low?

  • Doctor checked me to see if he seen any fluid and checked for any under a microscope to see if any I'd ferning but he didn't see any that looked like fluid
  • I had "low" levels with my DD. But dont know the numbers. How far along are you? Will you have follow up ultrasounds? With my DD they just followed up with ultrasounds bi-weekly to make sure she was thriving and the placenta was functioning properly and I delivered at 40 weeks (low fluid discovered at 23 weeks)

  • I'm 30 weeks , I finally have an idea of why it's low , baby is measuring small her anatomy is ok just small growth I believe my levels were about 7.5 I'm hoping they go up asap . Were u ever placed on bedrest or had to do anything special ?
  • Low fluid and IUGR go hand in hand. But at 30 weeks your not in a bad place honestly. Scary still yes but not a bad place at all. And if no ferning then your not leaking so they may do non-stress testing and monitor you weekly to see if you levels are "stable" or dropping. And as long as baby is still thriving and placenta functioning they will let you go as far as you can. Ensure it up hun!!! It's controversial but when we noticed my daughter was small I noticed that on a lot of forums that the ladies said they started packing in the protein and ensure drinks and I asked my OB who said there isn't enough evidence to say it helped BUT I did three drinks a day plus protein heavy meals and personally think that's what helped her gain and get to a take home weight at birth. You can't aide the low fluid but getting more nutrients and calories to the baby you can help.

  • I did also do limited activity. No long walks not to many flights of stairs No major lifting just basically work home couch. That's it.

  • Thank you for so much Info I really appreciate it as I am so confused by all of this , it does make sense what u said about my fluids being low and IUGR going hand in hand the doctor hasn't mentioned it but I googled it last night . A few weeks ago my ob couldn't figure out why my amnisure came out positive but he said anything can trigger a positive , now with my ultra sounds is when he refered me to the specialist that's when he said the baby's growth was small. How is your daughter is she healthy how far along are you? Also if the specialist hasn't brought up IUGR should I ask him about it at my next appt ? Thank you on the tip on drinking ensures I'll be packing in my everyday meals as well
  • Also at my last ob appt he did a test to check if it was fluid it wasn't ferning it was some sort of strip he let dry that said it was negative and wasn't fluid
  • Actually pregnant with Baby #3, my DD was #2. Shw was born as a healthy take hoime baby at exact 40weeks. Small anatomy may be their way of stating IUGR, which has changed means over the years and is now out of practice as a term so he may be indicating the same thing.

  • I was admitted last night due to big gush of fluid that ended up being amniotic they are sure I have a rupture so now I'm dealing with pprom and small baby idk where this will end up. I'm scared for her if she comes early
  • Oh dear.. hopefully they are able to stave off labor. Not ideal but you can go a little with ruptured membrane in a hospital setting. Hope all turns out well for you guys!!!

  • If labor starts they won't stop it makes me nervous , doctor honk I'll go in labor myself idk why he's so confident in that
  • Why would they not try to stop labor if they think baby is on the smaller side? Unless the amnio confirmed developed lungs then I can see why they wouldn't stop labor, cuz there is really no point in stopping it after lung development, which is the final thing to develop at 30-31 weeks. Your way beyond viability and honestly if born at this point your baby should have no lasting issues due to the prematurity. It's still scary but in terms of where you are your not in a bad place at all for your babies health all major development is done it's just building fat stores at this point. You've done great getting this far :-)

  • I've had PROM at 18 weeks and I'm on bedrest now and drinking tons of water. I'm almost 21 weeks now. No infection yet and keeping my fingers crossed. It doesn't look good though.
  • Mine went down to 6 then in 2 days was back up to 10.. went up and down for about 2 weeks but then I got preeclamsia and that was it.. they took the baby out. But I was told 4 is the magic number where they deliver you.
