Low Fluid, Missing Kidney, Cysts

Hey all! Hoping to get some input. We had our anatomy scan today and amniotic fluid was low to nonexistent, one kidney had cysts on it, and the other kidney was missing as far as the doc could tell. Anyone have experience with this? It sounds like baby will not make it very long after birth but at this point I want to know what is the chance of miscarriage?

    did you doctor give you any answers? Are they going to do another scan to check on kidneys?

    I am so sorry. Praying for you. Have you learned anything more. I have heard of amniotic fluid replacement. Is this an option? Would it be effective?

    I am not sure about the low AF or cysts on the one kidney but my husband was born with only one kidney and has been fine. Make sure you are drinking tons of fluids to help replenish any AF that you can. Good luck. I will be sending prayers your way.

    Doc said kidneys were not functioning at all, because of low amnio fluid lungs are not developing. Going for a follow up Monday to see if anything has changed. My OB has basically said we need a miracle. We could do an amnio infusion but that would not help the fact that there are no kidneys (turns out the cysts are in the shape of a kidney) and then opens me and the baby up to infection (we would need an infusion once a week until delivery). We will get the name of a specialist and maybe get a fetal MRI to see if there is anything else we should know. Thank you for the advice and prayers ladies!

    I am so sorry for what you are going through. I have no advice, but there is a blog I read a few years back when we were carrying to term despite fatal diagnosis. It is called maeflowerblog, her daughter had a similar kidney issue diagnosed at the anatomy scan, you might be able to find some helpful information by looking through old posts. Sadly, her daughter was stillborn, so it may be a difficult read. Thoughts and prayers to you.
