Appt. Vent

I feel terrible after my appt this morning, and DS has finally fallen asleep for his nap...I'm very strongly considering joining him!

The glucose test was a 2hr, not a 1hr, and they drew blood 3x from the same vein!! The same vein!! The third time I almost begged her to just check my other arm for a vein. But nope. And oww! I seriously feel for all you ladies who had to do the 3hr test. :( I get the results tomorrow.

AND I couldn't get the rhogam shot because it falls under medical instead of pharmacy for insurance. Apparently I have to go pick it up myself from the pharmacy and take it back to the office tomorrow to have it administered, and I have to pay out of pocket and send the receipt to the insurance, because even though it's covered, the provider won't file the claim.

Just needed to vent. It's been a long day. Now should I bother reading today's UO thread or should I just go to bed? Lol

Re: Appt. Vent

  • WHAT? Why the same vein? Owwww

    So sorry...rest up!

  • The shot thing is stupid.  Seriously...I don't know the process but it seems like that should be administered in your OB's office and they supply it, not you picking it up from the pharmacy.  Feels like insurance double dipping.

I have no idea!! I try not to look when they are getting ready because I don't want to accidentally see the needle (I'm squeamish), and I thought when she put on the tourniquet that she was just going to look around for a new vein. But nope! I knew I was in for more when she picked that same arm on round 3...definitely should have known because she took off the gauze and tape first!! :((

That sounds rhogam shot process like a ridiculassle (ridiculous hassle).

I'd say read the first three UO pages, and only read more if you like it when the same arguments just get repeated for several pages.

  • Sorry you had a rough day. I would go to nap and skip the UO thread completely.

  • I have not even attempted to read the UO thread. When it gets into the high number of replies I just stop looking. As far as I have heard. It is not worth reading much of it. Go get some rest.

Sorry the blood draw was from the same vien and arm. My arms hurt for you. The shot does sound like double dipping into insurance to me.

    Hope your day gets better.

That sucks about the rhogam. I think it's around 80 out of pocket sans insurance coverage

Edited: I have seen some say up to 200.
  • That is a bummer. I did the two hour last month and the first draw was good. Then the second and third draws were done by another person and she didn't even try to be gentle. Like being mean to a starving and thirsty pregnant lady is fun.

i had a huge bruise for almost two weeks. Hope you pass and are spared more run around.

sorry about the shot. That just sounds stupid.
  • Ugh what a crappy appointment! I hope you got some rest and are feeling much better. Your poor arm!
