So... I'm 35 weeks and 3 days along. I had one of the firsts freak outs along this journey as a FTM. I wake up at 1am and I can't breath and I'm choking. I panic and run to the bathroom which is not gaging and puking.
Somwhere in my brain I realize I can kind of breath but not really. So I stick my finger down my throat and try to dislodge whatever is there and feel myself scratch the back of my throat which is better and worse at the same time. First, I realize that there is nothing in my throat, I then realize that my throat is just swelled up.
I have never had allergies other than very mild seasonal allergies, but I feel (from the accurate portrayal on tv) that this must be what anaflactic shock must feel like.
After I calm down I sit on the cold floor of the bathroom, butt ass naked (yes, I sleep naked, don't judge) and calm down and realize that there is nothing I can do so eventually I crawl back to bed and my hubby who never left the bed this whole time is pretty much still sleeping and asks if things are OK?
Lets just say that this isn't the norm for me and I haven't been sick a single time during pregnancy. I start to explain to him that I feel like I'm choking and my throat is all swelled up and he just tells me to feel better and rolls over. I'm pissed and normally he is not that douche bag guy who ignores you when your sick.
Eventually I fall back asleep sitting upright and get up at the usual time, throat still swollen pretty pissy with DH and do what any normal person would do. I google.
I think that I have come to the conclusion that my uvula (not vulva), the ball hangy thing in the back of your mouth is swollen and I keep gagging on it.
I've been living in OK for about a year and I hear that there are really bad allergies here, but there also was an Ozone warning this morning. Sorry if this is so long but has anyone elver had anything like this. Google told me to take some antihistimines and drink cold drinks. So I"m hoping that my claritin takes care of it and we will see what happens. I don't have a general practioner down here yet so I"m not even sure what to do.
Again, sorry so long and any advice would be appreciated, I feel fine other than that. And sorry if this does not load correctly, my computer hates this page.thought is that I have something stuck in my throat so I stick my finger down my throat to try and dislodge whatever it is and feel myself scratch my throat which almost made it worse to know that there was nothing in my throat to begin with.
Re: Midnight Freakout and DH Complaint (sorry, kinda long)
Also, people half asleep are useless. Haha. I wouldn't blame your husband, he was probably just in a weird realm of consciousness being woken up and didn't immediately understand the seriousness of your issue.

"Anaphylaxis is a serious, potentially life-threatening allergic response that is marked by swelling, hives, lowered blood pressure, and dilated blood vessels. In severe cases, a person will go into shock. If anaphylactic shock isn't treated immediately, it can be fatal. Anaphylaxis may begin with severe itching of the eyes or face and, within minutes, progress to more serious symptoms. These symptoms include swallowing and breathing difficulties, abdominal pain, cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, hives, and angioedema (swelling similar to hives, but the swelling is beneath the skin instead of on the surface).
If you have symptoms of anaphylaxis, seek emergency medical attention immediately. The condition can quickly result in an increased heart rate, sudden weakness, a drop in blood pressure, shock, and ultimately unconsciousness and death."

I wouldn't go to the ER but you probably want to get checked out.
1) i was in the hospital getting an infusion of a drug i needed. I was becoming allergic to itbut never had a severe reaction until this time. I lliterally had hives in my throat and it hurt like strep throat when I tried to swallow. It would have been worse but I got pumped full of benedryl and tylenol and hydracortison before the infusion. (This is the closest to anaphylaxis I've ever had)
2) when I get really bad acid reflux where acid spills into my throat I'll wake up and have issues breathing. I can breath but I gasp for breath until the acid stops spilling into my throat. It's an anxiety response as well as I need to get up or I'm going to puke response
