Hand Foot and Mouth :(

LO has hand foot and mouth, and I know other LOs on this board have had it in the last couple of months.  My question is, did any of the adults in your household contract it?  I know it's really uncommon in adults, but my mom is supposed to be visiting us this weekend, and she's freaked out that she is going to catch it.  Just want to put her mind at ease a bit if possible.

Oh, and I just want to add that this SUCKS.  Big time.

    Ugh, suck. My friend's baby got it and then the rest of the family got it. I hope you are spared and LO feels better soon.

    Yes, ds1 had it last September and everyone in the house got it, even 4 mon old ds2. The fever didn't last long, maybe a day and the sores weren't bad on me and DH. I had three on my hand and DH had maybe two but we both had a fever and flu like symptoms. Again, only lasted 24-48 hours at most.

    S had it, and we didn't get it, but a friend of mine go it from his kids so it's possible. That being said, IF your mom gets it, it's not that bad for most adults. it's worse for children because especially at this age, they can't tell us when something is wrong and they don't know/understand why they can't eat or it hurts or whatever. For adults, there's so much more that we can take to help.

    Oh no!  That sucks.  I hope LO gets over it quickly and no one else gets it.

    Lo had it a few months ago. Dh and i never got it. Hope lo is feeling better soon!

    DD had it in early June. No adults caught it, but about 10 years or so ago my husband contracted it. So yea, very rare for adults to get it but can happen.
    3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
    IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
    Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13
