hearing aid question

For those that are around hearing aids whether their own, their kid's, or as part of work.....how long do the batteries last?  Do the batteries drain if the battery is not in the aid and the aid is not used for some reason?

I have hearing aids and I'm trying to figure out if it's normal or if there is a problem with them.  I can put a new battery in one day, wear for about 8 hours, take battery out, and not use it for a few days and put the battery in and the aid will act as if the battery is dead.  Sometimes I can put a brand new battery in and it acts as if battery is dead.  Other times I can put a new battery in and wear daily for close to a week before it starts beeping low battery.

Re: hearing aid question

  • Nate's batteries last him about 2-3 weeks becaue he does not wear them all the time. He wears them about 4 hours a day during school. His hearing level is Mild-Moderate.

I have heard that the more amplification that you have will drain your batteries more. Are you storing the aids in a drying box or a case? I know that the batteries are activated by air once you remove the sticker on them.

I would contact your audiologist who sold you the aids or contact the company. WHat you are describing is super annoying!! I would be pissed that there wasn't any predictability for when Nate's batteries are gonna need changing.

  • Thanks for the help. I store them in the hard case they came in. I contacted the place I got them from and we decided since they were still under warranty to send them in to the company to have them checked out. I have a mild in right moderate in left hearing loss so I was surprised to read that Nate's last 2-3 weeks when I have never gotten more than 1 week.
