3rd Trimester

Do you buy this theory?

I recently posted on FB about how gross the drink is that you drink during your glucose test. Well, I actually thought it was fine until after I was done and started to feel slightly nauseous from it. A couple of my friends who recently gave birth said they thought it was delicious, and they ended up having GD. Their theory is if you think the drink is gross, you'll pass and if you like it you'll fail.

Have you heard this before? What has been your experience?

Re: Do you buy this theory?

  • No. I didn't mind it and no GD with my last pregnancy. And this was coming off of 16 weeks with HG so my stomach was not my friend for a good portion of my pregnancy.

  • That is an interesting theory but idk it your taste buds are linked to GD. I didn't like it with either of my pregnancy and I didn't have GD.
  • I didn't mind the taste. I didn't feel well the rest of the day though because it was too much sugar for me. I passed the test so I'm not sure this theory works.
  • I didn't mind it, no GD.

  • Well, I liked it and I passed with flying colors, so either I'm a fluke, or this theory is debunked...or I just really like strong orange soda.

  • I liked it. No GD. My issue was with drinking it so fast.

  • It tasted exactly like flat Orange Crush. I'm not a fan, but I didn't think it was the most horrible thing ever - like some people made it out to be. I thought it was going to be on par with a barium swallow or something. It got pretty rough towards the end because seriously, I NEVER eat or drink anything that damn sweet - woof.

But lo and behold, I have GD. :(

  • I hated it, definitely made me sick the rest of the day! Your theory works for me, I passed!

  • I am still waiting on my result. Like PP said, I didn't mind it at first, but I chugged it and then felt slightly nauseous and was grossed out by the thought of it.  Mine was not orange, it was a clear liquid and at first I thought she was handing me a small bottle of water. It tasted like concentrated 7up syrup. I should have taken the full 5 minutes to drink it. -_-

I had the red drink and didn't mind it at all. It just tasted like strong Hawaiin Punch to me. Took my 3.5 minutes to get it down. I had a slightly upset stomach afterwards but nothing major. I passed my GD with flying colors. Oh, I have a stomach that is slightly sensitive to sugar so I was thinking ahead of times that I could have problems with the test.

  • I didn't mind the drink and no GD.  I wouldn't choose to drink it but I do tend to like anything sweet.

  • I liked the orange (1hour) fanta-like drink, & failed. I hated</1> the Hawaiian Punch flavor (3 hour) & passed.

The second time I despised the orange drink (I failed) & almost puked with the haiwaan punch flavor. Passed.

I am not sure I place much confidence in the theory.
