I'm a FTM, so no experience here, but both my SILs used these and gave me their extra supplies. So I put some together this weekend, and thought I'd pass along the "recipe" in case others wanted to try. Can't hurt!
Supplies:
20-24 Maxi Pads
Aloe Vera Gel (not liquid concentrate)
Witch Hazel (make sure it's alcohol-free)
Lavender essential oil
Aluminum foil
Instructions:
1) Apply a liberal layer of aloe vera all over pad
2) Pour about a teaspoon of witch hazel over aloe vera
3) Sprinkle on a few drops of lavender essential oil
4) Wrap each pad in foil and freeze for use in your early postpartum days

Yes. I didn't keep one on for long but it worked for as long as I needed it to.
I'm actually making these right now. It smells heavenly!
Looking forward to busy days and sleepless nights effective 8/2/14!
