Welp, that was sufficiently embarrassing

So, one of my Labor and Delivery nurses just came into the store. The first thing I thought was "OMG. This woman has seen my vagina."

Thankfully, I kept my mouth shut, and was nice and pleasant to her.

THEN, she reminded me that I apparently burst into tears when her shift was over, told her she couldn't leave me, and told her I refused to let any other nurse deliver my baby, because I only trusted her, and omg.

WHY do I not remember any of this?!

Lololololllllllll I was basically like this:

  • Oh no! You totally can't be her only patient that's ever done that.

I sent you a PM, BTW!

  • I came close to saying that to my L&D nurse.  Luckily I already had my epi, so I was feeling a bit more in control.

It's amazing what we are able to forget thanks to hormones & evolution.  It was days later when I asked my H "Did my blood pressure drop scary low at 1 point? I don't really remember, but that must have scared the crap out of you."  He looked at me like I was nuts for not remembering that.

Hey, at least you weren't remembered for cussing her out. I'm sure she's had her share of both extremes.
  • I love this story! I agree she probably took it as a compliment.  I had the same L&D nurse during most of my laboring and her shift ended right when I was getting ready to push.  It did feel like betrayal when she said she had to leave.  Luckily, my next nurse was just as nice.

Too funny! My husband loved out epidural guy simply because he was Russian.

One of my labor nurses left for night at 8, confident in the fact that I'd have lo right when she got to work the next morning. 25 minutes later I was rushed into an operating room for an emergency c-section. She was sad that she missed the birth by 20 minutes.
  • I had a lot of nurses. My entire labor process was less than 12 hours, but My main nurse was pretty pregnant herself, and had assistants. Plus, the nurse that delivered our stillborn was there and kept checking on us, just because.
