Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

15 month checkup worry

My daughter Aria will be 15 months on July 30. Her doctor appt isn't until Sept. 2. Her 12 month appt was about 3 weeks after her birthday. I worry a lot being a first time mom. Is it ok that she will be having her 15 month checkup when she is actually going to be 16 months? Also, I am.moving in August to a new state and I have to switch her to a new doctor and I am worried about how that transition will go, any advice on having a new doctor would be appreciated. Thank you

Re: 15 month checkup worry

  • the later appointment may be due to vaccinations. for certain vaccines the child either has to reach a certain age, or a certain amount of time has to elapse between doses in a series. so if your 12-month appointment was a little late, they're probably counting 3 months from that appointment. i wouldn't worry about it being later unless you have a specific concern about your child that you want to discuss earlier.

do you know anyone in the area that you're moving to that you could ask for a recommendation for a new doctor? if not i'd first see which doctors are covered by your insurance, and then check out their websites to get a feel for their style. you can then call a few that you're interested in to see if they're accepting new patients, and if they are, go in for a brief consultation and meet the doctor to see if you're a good match.
