I miss uninterrupted sleep

I'm an end of the monther, and I'm only 13 weeks now, but I've reached the point where I have to pee at least once, and sometimes twice, in the middle of the night. Uuuugh. I don't remember it being this early last time. Moms of little ones who don't sttn aside, is anyone else going through this already?

Re: I miss uninterrupted sleep

  • . And what kills me is STM's always tell me to enjoy the sleep while it lasts. What sleep?!?! :((
Well, it is true. The short and quick pee interruptions are nothing compared to waking up every 2.5 hours to nurse your newborn. And I say every 2.5 hours because by time you nurse them, change their diaper (I swore mine pooped every time he ate), put them back down, and fall asleep yourself, you are at it again so quickly.

  • I get up but I don't really register it I'm a very heavy sleeper and just barely wake up for it. But I hate it when it's close to my alarm. I'm just like really body you couldn't have waited another 30 mins?

  • I usually get up twice to pee but last night it was 3 times. The crazy thing is that when I get up to pee, I'm also super thirsty and cant fall back asleep until I drink something. It's a vicious cycle for me.

Another obstacle is our dog - usually he only bothers us if its storming - then he paces all over us, wakes us up, etc. But this week he's acted like that twice in the middle of the night with no bad weather. What is going on? He's coming to me, too...not my husband. Last night he got on top of me (he's only 8 pounds) and started licking me and pawing at me to pet him like he was scared. WHYYYY? It kept me up from 3:30-4:15 :(

I'm a FTM and am 15w 4d and get up 2-3 times a night. Every time I get up my two dogs feel the need to get up with me and make noise which wakes DH up. Poor hubby! I'm off for the summer so I sleep in until 9 but so not looking forward to dealing with this when the school year starts again. And what kills me is STM's always tell me to enjoy the sleep while it lasts. What sleep?!?! :((

Oops posted before I actually wrote anything! Was gonna say waking up to pee is not exactly the same as waking up to nurse/change/put a baby back to sleep! That can take an hour. And then they are awake again in what feels like no time to do it all over again. Waking up to pee is approx like 2 minutes maybe? And then you are free to lay back down. But yes I agree it is annoying, especially when you pee, and then need some water to drink and it just starts the cycle over again.

  • I didn't mind missing sleep with a newborn because I wasn't expected to hop up, get dressed up and use my brain work for 8+ hours.

Last time around I don't recall waking up (up to 3x per night) this early in the pregnancy but this time it was one of the first symptoms.

  • On occasion, I also wake up simply because I'm really hungry.   Soooo tired. I-)

It is annoying! I have a hard time falling back to sleep after I get up to pee, too, so I end up just really tired no matter when I go to bed. Sometimes I start feeling hungry when I'm trying to get back to sleep, too. I'm up for at least an hour. :(  I actually do find it more frustrating than getting up when my DD was a newborn, because at least I could fall back to sleep really quickly after I fed her. I remember not sleeping well when I was pregnant with her, too - not fun!

  • YES! It's freaking annoying. I wake up usually twice to pee and I'm 16 today but it's been like that for at least 2 weeks. I also wake up about an hour before my alarm goes off restless and the feel like I fall asleep and it goes off 5 minutes later

  • I know this wrong, but oh, honey, just wait. I wish I could just get up and pee and go back to bed. I haven't slept in like 4 years (if you count my pregnancy with dd). Newborn waking up doesn't bother me THEY go back to sleep, toddler waking up drives me crazy THEY want to play. Sometimes I stand next to ds's crib and he literally just stares at me for hours as I beg and plead for him to go back to sleep. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a dream. I miss rem sleep!

  • Thank God for this post.  I thought I was the only one.  I'm a FTM at 12 weeks, 4 days.  I get up like clockwork twice a night to pee.  After the first trip I can usually fall back asleep quickly but the second time is always sometime between 4 and 4:30 a.m. and I am WIDE awake.  Cannot fall sleep even after DH scratches my back or rubs my arm.  So annoying.  I'm convinced my baby's "witching hour" will be 4 to 5 a.m. whenever he/she gets here.
  • ahahah totally 100% practice.. except with my newborn i was up every 1.5 hours..

STM here, and I loong for the sleep I had when 9 months preg. Much easier than waking up for nightmares and bathroom breaks of other ppl, and then bathroom breaks for me!
  • I had watermelon a couple weeks ago at like 9p, honestly got up 10 times that night to pee. Betrayed by my favorite summer fruit!
  • Oh and I forgot about baby kicking me in the bladder. That was buckets of fun.  :(
Didnt it feel like there was a foot hanging out of your lady parts? First baby I was like get your foot outta my ***.
  • Yeah I get up 3 or more times to pee every night, have been since early on. It's just annoying never feeling comfortable.

  • Last night, I had to get up and pee at 3:45. Couldn't fall back to sleep. So around 4:45, I woke DH up and we had some fun. ;-) After that I was finally able to sleep, but only until 6 when I had to get up. :-(

  • @Christina_Diane‌ Probably not, since your original post makes it sound like you have a kid already.

That is what I was thinking, but no one was tagged or quoted.

I feel like I'm up peeing a lot more this time around :( but it has lessened in the last week or so, for awhile i was waking up every 2 hrs, worse than when my daughter was a newborn, she slept like a log lol.

  • Yeah, I've been experiencing that since about 9 weeks or so. I'm 15w5d now and 90% of the time I'm getting up at least once. But I have had a night or two of uninterrupted sleep. So I'm hopeful for the rest of the second trimester.
  • Im 13 w 4 d and am up at least once a night to pee so you are not alone! I also then have a rough time falling back asleep :( oh well I guess its preparing all of us!!
