When I am asleep or just going to sleep my whole body jerks kinda like when you have a bad dream and jerk awake from it. Anyone have any idea what this is?
I haven't had this happen but DH does this all the time. I can't cuddle with him when he is first falling asleep because his twitching always keeps me awake. It's always right as he is starting to fall asleep. I have no idea why he does it and have never really considered it to be something to worry about, but you can always mention it to your doctor.
ETA - DH only does it when he is first falling asleep, it is not all the time, and it seems worse when he is really tired.
I have not heard of that either. My DH used to have some crazy muscle twitches in his sleep when he was athletic and played football. They didn't wake him up though. They did, however, wake me up!
Let us know what you find out if you talk with your doctor about it if you don't mind.
That's happened to me occasionally since I was younger. It's just being startled awake by something just before you fall asleep. I don't think it really means anything else.
It's usually normal. It happens to me as well sometimes as I'm just about to drift off into sleep.
From a yogic perspective, sleep is your body's time to process everything from your day that you weren't able to during our waking hours. These little jerks are just our bodies way of getting rid of some little kinks in our system!
