Reese vs. the potty

Unfortunately, I think Reese is winning.

This kid who hates finger paint, messy foods, snow and the sand because she might get dirty. She has her room perfectly clean because she doesn't want it to be a mess. She has no problem having wet underwear or an accident.

I know she is physically ready--and now that we have a few weeks off from doctors appointments, I figured to at least START potty training. We only are in a half a day in---and she just doesn't seem to care.

Tell me it gets easier. Please!

Re: Reese vs. the potty

  • Bribes? Wet pants were not a motivation, but candy was.

At some point it clicked and she learned how to fully go, before that she would get a little in the potty and then have an accident 20 minutes later. She finally trained when we told her getting to the potty was her job and gave her control. Good luck, PT sucks.

  • She just got mad that I had to throw her favorite blanket in the wash.

Like I said, her next doctors appointment is August 6th and that is when she starts the hardest chemo--so I know starting it during those weeks was not an option. I am hoping the next two weeks it clicks for her.

  • We used jelly beans. Lots of jelly beans. Also, we watched this video (The Poop Song) approximately one billion times:

  • It does get easier. Really.

    We used the Elmo video.

I also had my kids wear those thick cotton training underpants with windbreaker pants over them to contain the accidents. I did have to rely on them to tell me about the accident though.

  • We sprinkle glitter on the poop before she flushes. Also poop talks to her in my silly voice. These 2 things made the biggest impact.
  • I have been potty training for a year now... She still has accidents often, omg, kill me.

  • Success!

after a day of accidents and having wet underwear; she actually WENT on the potty; and TOLD me that she had to go.

Throughout the day she would tell me after she just went that she had to go.

Now, the dilemma is tomorrow afternoon we have a barbecue to go to--I know she won't go on the big toilets, I am tempted to bring our small little one.

    Awww it will get easier.

    Feel better? Was I convincing?

Potty training is the devil. My DD didn't have much trouble getting pee trained but it was a FULL YEAR after pee training before she pooped on the potty, she literally just started. First she held it and pooped her pants and then for 10 months she pooped in a pull up everyday.
