Trying to Get Pregnant

Could I be?

Hello,

I just needed some reassurance.... I was not currently TTC at all.  I did the deed with my husband around the time I was ovulating and we used the pull out method of birth control.  About a week after I started having cramping that lasted about 2 days, now I just have a general crampy, uncomfortable feeling and bloating in my pelvic area.  I just would be in such disbelief if I actually were pregnant... but am becoming concerned.  My period is due this weekend so I will know soon enough.  Has anyone had any symptoms like this either way, cramping a week before period is due? (pregnant or just PMS?)

If you think you're pregnant take a test. No one here can tell you anything.

And the large majority of females have experienced PMS.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

  • I have cramping and bloating in my pelvic area right now.  I am also on CD2 so definitely not pregnant.  PMS is a bitch.  Questions can be answered only by the Magic Pee Stick... they can be purchased at your local drug store, grocery store, big box store, convenience store or even dollar store.  Happy peeing!

  • @bibliothecary - please give us a heads up if anyone comes back + for bovine encephalitis.  That's transmittable through the interwebz, right?
Yes, but thankfully, stupid will just smash up against the screen. It's scary, but not ultimately harmful.
    *Whew*  global pandemic averted

  • OK, I'm new here. But does anyone find it at all odd that someone would somehow stumble over to the TTGP Board to ask if she's pg? Possibly "by accident" no less? I feel like that's kind of poking the bear.
Happens several times a week -  Hence the snark.  People don't seem to understand that we aren't a magical land of pregnancy prediction.

  • OP go pee on a stick for goodness sakes!!! And..."pulling out" IS NOT a form of birth control...it's self control!!
  • I honestly can not believe how rude you people are... I have been so worried for days and this is the response I get.  I think I should remind all of you, if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.  I hope none of you are already mothers.  I can't imagine the poor influence you all would have on children.  Teach kindness with being kind should any of you ever actually get pregnant.
  • @aimeefolds:

    1) change your SN.  I assume that is your actual full name.  Identity theft is real.  Truth.

    2) If you are SO CONCERNED about getting pregnant, you should look into methods of birth control that have better odds than pulling out.

    3) pee on a stick.  pee on a stick once a week until you actually get your period.  that is the only way you will know if you are pregnant.  If you know the day you ovulated, as you imply above, you should be able to know when to test.  The tests aren't super accurate for most people until at LEAST 11 days post ovulation, though they will sometimes work as early as 7 days post ovulation.  false negatives are more common the earlier you test.

    4) Early pregnancy symptoms and PMS symptoms are identical.  it's frustrating to everyone.  accept it and move on.

As it turns out, being an occasional asshole doesn't prevent one from being a damn fine parent. I know plenty, myself and Husband included if I want to get all own-horn-tooty. :P
  • If she was a grown woman she probably wouldn't still be using the pull out method.

  • There's a link at the top that says "read this before posting".  What you described sounds like PMS.

If it is between ovulation and the start of your period, and you had sex in your fertile window, you could have conceived.  You may have PMS symptoms any time between O and CD 1.  Implantation tends to occur between 7 and 12 days past ovulation - pregnancy hormones (and thus symptoms) will be produced after implantation, but not before.  If you want to know if you are pregnant, take a test.

There's a daily thread about the Two Week Wait between ovulation and the start of one's next period.  That is meant for symptom spotting until you can take a test.

This is why we need attack chickens and lasers.
I second this notion!! Lasers make everything more entertaining, and attack chickens just sound way to hilarious to pass up!
  • @aimeefolds‌ You're having a litter of puggles.

That's what happens when you wish infertility on people for telling you that grass is green and we can't see inside of you.

    Congrats.

  • @DarcyHermione‌ i'm there with you, dh and I have done the "pull n pray" since 2009 (until feb when we started ttc i mean). H isnt a fan of condoms and ive never used bc of any kind. So it worked for us

  • OP go pee on a stick for goodness sakes!!! And..."pulling out" IS NOT a form of birth control...it's self control!!

Actually when used properly it works fairly well. Properly is the key.

Sure, it works. I've used it myself. BUT it is not a form of BC...there are spermies in the pre-ejac that can fertilize an egg. Recognized forms of BC: barrier methods, pill, patch, ring, iud etc... The point is that if she isn't TTGP she should be using a recognized form. Not a "method"
  • @WestCoastGirl05‌ yeah spermies! Lol so much more entertaining than just calling them sperm!

@DarcyHermione‌ hey, I've been wrong before! I will go check the website out.

If you put yourself through so much worry because you were too lazy to go get a pregnancy test that is YOUR fault.

This is your own fault and you have no one to blame but yourself for being worried!
You are the one having unprotected sex and using a very ineffective method to try and prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Yet you are talking down to people? Good forbid you become a mother.... that's all I have to say.

I was gonna say, H and I used withdrawal combined with condoms sometimes during my FW for almost 4 years and it worked for us. But the key is indeed that you have to have control and know what you're doing.

Is she coming back? Is it time for a gif party?

  • @DarcyHermione‌ - Thanks for the clarification. I can see if you have control over it how it can be considered a form of birth control.

  • Hmph, these am I pregnant? threads are only fun when the OP posts multiple times about how everyone responding is an asshole for not telling her she's pregnant based on arbitrary symptoms.

Then again, I guess telling a bunch of chicks who are presumably trying to get pregnant (or who are, or who would like to be) that you hope they aren't mothers is pretty much bringing a gun to a knife fight and her arsenal bag is probably empty. Sigh.

..perhaps your mother should have taught you some common sense. This is a message board about TRYING to get pregnant.  It says it right there at the top of the screen.

Sorry.  I am in a pissy mood today.

@aimeefolds‌ : I get it that you wanted a super touchy-feely response. Honestly, your symptoms could be pregnancy or PMS. We can't tell you which. A home pregnancy test can. This is a fact. I'm deeply sorry if it offends you that we like those around here (facts).

Your desire that we remain silent unless we have nice things to say is wrong. You aren't following your own rules, by the way. Hoping. That "none of us are mothers" & "should any of us actually get pregnant" are both low blows. I suggest if you demand (because you weren't even polite enough to ask) that you at the very least reciprocate with kindness.

    Wouldn't that be nice? :-??

To answer your question: I've had the symptoms you describe & been pg. however, I've also had them & had a vacant uterus w/neg. HPT. Symptoms don't mean much in the long run.

I am already a mother. I am 100% awesome at it too. So sorry to disappoint. :D

  • All the ladies told you good advice , and im just going to say that you should go ahead and read more and take a test if you are soo worried . BUT you had no right to say what you said that was harsh. GL
  • If the pull out method is giving you this much anxiety where you feel the need to come on a board of strangers and ask if you are pregnant then perhaps you should switch to a different type of "birth control". Take a test.

Attack chickens are no laughing matter! Have you ever been chased by one? Those little fuckers can be mean!
When I was four, I was at my grandparents' farm on butchering day.  I was watching my grandpa chop the heads off the chickens, and one of them decided to go zombie on my ass - instead of just flopping around on the ground after losing its head, it actually got up on its feet and ran towards me.  But not in a straight line, more of a spastic, floppy, not-sure-what-direction-is-next creepy kind of way.  I ended up being chased screaming down the driveway by this headless chicken flapping its wings and spurting blood everywhere.  Completely traumatic experience!! lol
