My boyfriend and I have agreed that if we have a boy he would name him, girl I would name her. I'm stuck between these two names, one with a different spelling and I just can't stop thinking about it, lol. Help me!
F15 January Siggy Challenge: What I'm Looking Forward to After the Babies Arrive Bringing them both home...UPDATE...The girls are home!!! 1/7/15 after 20 days in the NICU!
I don't think names are words to begin with..and a "y" isn't random because it's still pronounced the same. I also didn't think Marceline was hard to figure out how to pronounce. lol
I just meant that in a dictionary there are a certain ways to spell a word, there are a lot of different ways to spell names. To me it's like asking what people prefer when it comes to a name like Kathryn, or Kathrine.
I like Harlow thats my nieces middle name. If yoy choose Winter spell it right. To me Marceline and Eileen sound like old lady names.

I voted for Harlow because I like that best of the options. Names are words...their etymology leads to their original meanings.
Marceline is a variant of the latin name Marcella and it means "Dedicated to Mars" for the record.
Winter is a season; Wynter is made up. You may want check out the baby name forum on here too. As PP said, there is a good post on Why name spellings matter.
I think they are all cute. I like older names - I tend to be in the minority that I like Wynter with a "y." I think it looks more feminine.....and it is after all a middle name.
Neither is my style but you are brave giving the other the name picking rights. With our DD we were team green so we had to pick out a boy and girl name. We luckily didn't have too much trouble with either but really think about that decision before you end up with a boy name that isn't your favorite (and visa versa).
I already knew what Marceline and Harlow meant. Just because I asked people what they thought between two different spellings of something doesn't mean I don't know anything about the names I might possibly name my child..
I've seen it spelled both ways, so I asked. No need to be redundant.
I already know the names my boyfriend likes and I like them too. I actually liked the first name he likes before I even met him. That's when we decided he could name the boy, I could name the girl.
I like older style names. I saw Eileen on an 1800s headstone while walking through the old part of my town's cemetery(my favorite) once, and I thought it was a pretty name.
For the record, I didn't say you didn't know the meanings of the names. I had never heard Marceline so I looked it up for myself. I think it's pretty but I like Harlow a little better.
Of course ultimately it's your decision and you have a bit of time to make the final choice. DH and I couldn't decide and named our LO while I was in labor at the hospital! We'll probably end up doing the same this time around.
As someone who has a mom that decided to be different and spell my cutesy, Annie with no "i", please don't spell her name different. I get called Ann a lot and do not like it! Or I have to spell my name for everyone. I also had a very difficult maiden name to pronounce/spell. It just gets very old. I also have people tell me, your name is spelled wrong, or that I pronounce it wrong...ugh! If you are leaning toward Wynter, please think of your daughter and the hassle it will be in school, work place etc. and also for you for that matter.
I know I have some time still, but I just can't stop thinking about it. lol
This is our first and we're both super excited, but at the same time I have a lot of anxiety about it. I think mostly because we haven't told ANYONE yet. We want to wait until my first appointment, but I think even then I won't be able to actually TELL someone. I've been thinking about just handing people the ultrasound picture. hahh

It sounds like you're getting really defensive. If you put your name choices out there, you are going to get opinions on them. Maybe not always what you want to hear.
This might not be something that matters to you but my first thought was "wow, she's really into celebrity baby names". With Nichole Ritchie using Harlow Winter and Angelina Jolie using Marcheline for her twin girl's middle name and being her mother's name, they both seem very "celebritot" to me.
I'm actually not into celebrities at all. I didn't know either named their babies that lol.
I don't have cable or internet at home or even a cell phone so I'm pretty secluded from that kind of stuff and I couldn't care less! A phone would be nice though. hahah
I just thought that "for the record" sounded pretty rude. Sorry.
Oh, sorry. I didnt really notice I had typed it that way in my original response, it wasn't directed at anyone in particular; there were some PP that had said they hadn't heard the name before like me. I see how you could take it that way but I promise that it wasn't meant to be rude.
I'm undecided, but I do like Harlow Wynter (yes, with the "y"). My first dd is named by adding mine and my mom's middle names, and I'm positive someone will tell me I spelled it wrong, but it's that way for a reason. I spell it Kaylynn. (I dropped the e from my middle name, I felt it looked better without it). Another DD's middle name is Emyline, and someone will tell me I spelled that wrong, too. I love the "y" in it. We debated a few different spellings, and we liked it the best. Another DD, Maddison, I didn't want it to be just like the city, so we added a "d." If this LO is a boy, the name will be Levi Wildan (my dad's middle name is William, his dad's name is Dan, both have passed away). If this LO is a girl, we like Kenzley (yes, with a z, not an s), not sure on a middle name yet. I feel that you can spell a name how you want to, but that is just my opinion. To each their own.
I know I have some time still, but I just can't stop thinking about it. lol

:-SS
I totally get it. I was like that with my first. I could barely stay quiet about it but I almost want to keep this one a secret, lol.
I also like Harlow...very unique. Wynter or Winter doesn't matter much because it is a middle name. As an educator, I've seen a lot worse. Additionally, since it is a middle name, you can decide to register your child with or without her middle name on her records (when it's time for school).
I like all the names, but in the end it's up to you and your husband. You will always find someone that doesn't care for the name and done that absolutely love it... Sometimes it has to grow on you too. Do what you like! My husband has a name no one can pronounce so he was against that odd of names but mine everyone has, so we did a different but not so odd name for our son. My sister has a friend named Marceline , it's pretty

If you didn't already explain how it's pronounced, I would have pronounced it line, not leen. That's how I read it.
Re: Baby Girl Names??
Anyway, the point of my post is if you go with Winter, please spell it correctly.
Bringing them both home...UPDATE...The girls are home!!! 1/7/15 after 20 days in the NICU!
Wynter is not a word. Don't add a random 'y' to be cute.
Marceline is different. Family name? Though I imagine the kid constantly explaining, "It's Marceline. Like vasoline." Kids will tease her.
Marcie is fine.
Passing no judgment on your names, but names are words. What else would they be?

I picked Harlow on the poll but is like Macie better. I'm not fond of Maceline, but I bet it becomes more lovely the more often you say it.
Our rule, with my husband, is they who births it, names it. I birth it, I name it!
Neither are really my style, so I didn't vote.
