Our anniversary is this next weekend and DH and I are *thinking* about going away for a night but J still doesn't STTN especially if I'm not there. Would you go away?
Go! We just had our second night away from Emmett and it was so nice to reconnect with each other. Like PP said, for someone who continuously gets sleep, one weekend of waking up with a baby won't kill them. Plus, I'm not sure about other babies, but Emmett is so much more well behaved and sleeps better with other people. It's like he knows that he won't get away with his normal shenanigans or something ;-). So who knows, maybe your LO would surprise you an STTN!
We're doing the same thing for our anniversary, and I had that concern as well. My ILs will be watching the kids, and B still has a tendency to wake up during the night sometimes. (Not to eat or anything like that - he just wants to be cuddled.) I'm hoping the night we're away will be a good one for him. My ILs are aware that he doesn't always STTN and they are fine with it.
I'm planning on sleep training once we're done with all our trips this summer. Right now I don't see the point because things have been so inconsistent.
I'm still torn. I know the majority of you say go but J is a nightmare even for DH when I'm gone. Last time I left he was up every two hours and was up for a good portion of time each time. Is is strange that I would have no qualms about it if it were my parents that were watching him but knowing it'll my IL makes me double think it?
as someone who has never left S alone overnight without me or DH there, if I had the opportunity because someone was willing to watch her, I'd take it. We have no family nearby, so we can't leave her so I say take advantage of the offer, let them know he may wake up a lot (and if they change their minds, they're allowed to, but if they're still okay with it, then they were fairly warned) and go away for the night.
@jacqueandadam not really. We do have one friend that would watch him but they're also trying for a baby and I don't want to scare them off
We're not going away for the whole night. We'll go to dinner and a movie and maybe cocktails afterward... J's sleeping habits (or lack thereof) combined with the cost of a hotel was just a downer combo. Maybe next year! Maybe we can conceive #2 on our anniversary night in a hotel room with champaigne and chocolates!
