ikea toddler bed, bedding question

We went to ikea yesterday and picked out a bed for Owen. It's one of those expandable beds that can grow with him. I think my husband said it expands to a twin size bed.
Anyway, I've been looking for bedding for it, and I'm not sure what size to get since we won't extend the bed out to a twin right away. It's wider then a crib mattress also.

Curious if anyone would know what size I should look for.

Here is a picture. :D
(We are getting it in a dark brown though.)

OH! Also, I need to pick up a dresser. Any recommendations on the good ones from ikea? I briefly looked and wasn't impressed with any. I was mainly focused on finding him a bed.

Re: ikea toddler bed, bedding question

  • IKEA sells a lot of bedding, you might just have to buy directly from them to make sure it's the right size.

  • Yeah, I was trying to avoid that @Cricket81. I'll look again, I briefly looked, and again nothing great.
Thanks @smpeachey, next time I'm there I'll ask them specifically where that's at. Is it all wood?

  • You could check eBay or etsy for custom or discontinued sheet sets

  • OKay so maybe this has already been discussed but I have been busy and have been away from the bump lately....but... Does he do well when you put him to bed? I worry about my LO climbing out of the bed and just tearing up his room until the wee hours of the night. I really want to move onto a toddler bed though but I just don't know how to go about this change.

  • Oh and I forgot to mention that I love that IKEA bed in the dark brown!

  • I may end up just getting a cheap twin size fitted sheet and tuck the excess and use just one of his blankets he has now until we make it a twin, or I find something cute.

@LBeez13‌ he has bed shared with us. He's got his own bed (pack n play) but he hates it! There is no putting him to bed in it without a fight. He hates being contained and will literally climb the sides. I don't even like putting him in it, because he will fall out.
I'm hoping a toddler bed will allow him to sleep easier. He needs allot of room to sprawl out and it's driving DH and I crazy with him taking the bed up. We sleep on the edge.

I know it might take a little getting used to, and I'm sure he will tare his room up (once we move) but even 2 and 3 year olds do that. ;)

It won't last forever, and they'll get tired enough they'll go to sleep.

  • @LaBellaVida‌ will O's toddler bed be in the same room as you? When will you be putting him in it? Ah so many questions lol we bed share with Grayson and I want to get a twin size bed for him for Christmas but have no idea when to put him in it or the logistics of him sleeping in it.

  • @ColieAnn31‌ we had to order the bed (they were out of the color we wanted. ) I told DH I'd like to get it for Christmas for him but he said no point in getting it just to drag it to the new house. *We're moving* O will have his own room there, so if it comes in before we move it will temporally go in our room. DH I think wants him out of bed, but I kinda do too. I'd like to get him used to not sleeping with us before the new baby comes.

So to answer your question, yes we will put him in it soon. :)

  • Thanks! My plan was to put Grayson in the twin and I will still sleep on the queen that's in his room until I know he sleeps well in his own bed by himself. I have a video monitor that I watch him on now when he's asleep and I'm still up doing things but I just don't know if I'm ready to leave him in an open bed by himself all night. Let me know how your transitioning goes!
