Jersey?

Boy or Girl name? I really like Jersey for a Boy name, I also like Phoenix. Our little girl is named Boston.

    Jersey reminds me of the state or the fabric. Phoenix is a better choice for a name based on a place, I think. I have a friend who has sons named Memphis and London. 

    If you really like Jersey because of the state, MH just suggested Patterson, Trenton, and Garfield which are towns in New Jersey.

    As someone with unusual name choices I say pick what makes you happy and don't worry what anyone thinks. If it is special to you then you shouldn't need validation.

    Maybe if DD is named after a city you do that for DS as well. But if you are dead set on Jersey then go for it. Maybe look on the social security database and see if people have used it as a girl or boy name.

    @murphyrame No problem! If we have a boy we are going to name him Cypress. I have told a few people and gotten the side eye so now if people ask I always keep it in mind that they don't have to live with that name or raise a child with that name so we really don't care what they think. I also have an unusual name and I was never made fun of (that bad) and I always loved not having the same name as anyone else in my class or job.

    I knew someone that had a daughter named Jersey.
    There are plenty of good names, I'm not a fan of made up ones.

    @murphyrame Does the state have sentimental value for you and/or your hubby? If so, then perhaps that may help us suggest additional place names for you, in case you'd like to have options.

    @mcr957, No, there is no sentimental value. We cant agree on any basic names or any family names, or any name, really! :) I like Knox, Bronz ect..

    I live in Jersey so it makes me pretty confused.  Not a huge fan, but if you like it that's what matters.

    Okay, I think I have come to the fact that Jersey, not so great, Bronx bad idea and Knox, seems like a good idea:)
