3rd Trimester

31weeks and exhausted

I am 31weeks pregnant and I am completely exhausted. I woke up at noon today and had to take a nap at 3p! I was only awake for three hours today till I had to go to work at 430p. I have been drinking alot of water, but also got up at 2a and 5a to go to the bathroom this morning. I don't know if I am missing something in my diet or what's going on but the doctor said it's normal. This is my second child and I was not nearly this exhausted during the first one. How do you deal with the tiredness and exhaustion, what do you do about it? And what can I do to try and increase my energy level.

  • Take naps when I can and have some caffeine when I can't have a nap. It's even more tiring with a toddler!

  • Try not sleeping too much! Too much sleep can make you more tired! Stick to 8 hours a night and a nap if you can...
But third is like first, and a toddler can add to exhaustion, and working late can also add to it...
Just do what you can and take it a day at a time!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

I agree with this! I feel really refreshed after an afternoon nap that consists of 15-20 minutes, but if I allow myself to sleep for an hour or two in the afternoon (which I know is super easy to do… LOL), I feel as though I never even rested at all.

If you're heading into work at 4:30, I'm assuming you don't get off until late in the evening, which could also affect how late you sleep in the next morning.

With that said, if you're feeling that exhausted every single day and you feel like something is wrong, it wouldn't hurt to bring it up with your doctor again. Maybe he/she could run some tests to see if you're deficient in any areas. Even if everything turns out okay, it could be good for your peace of mind.
