Sleeping arrangements

I'm looking for some ideas, suggestions or advise.
Right now DS is sleeping in a PnP in our room (I'm not ready to move him to the crib in his room yet). I want to move the PNP to the living room so I have so where to put him down during the day. But, I need something in our room for him to sleep in. I don want to spend a ton of money and we don't have a lot of space, as it is now with the PnP we can't open the bedroom door all the way.
Please tell me what you are doing.

Re: Sleeping arrangements

  • Ours slept in a PNP in our room, now her crib in her room. She hangs out in the swing in the living room or on her play mat.

  • I would love to be able to just put him down on a playmat but we have a stupid cat that will try to smother him if I put him down without locking the cat In the basement. Lol

  • LO sleeps in his crib in his room at bedtime, and he naps in his swing or PnP that are down stairs
  • DD spends a lot of her time while awake in the Babybjorn bouncer, which we keep downstairs. We keep her swing upstairs as well as her playmat. She sleeps & naps in her crib.
  • Ours has slept in his crib since before 1 month - he took to it very well and did not like the restrictive feeling of the bassinet we had beside our bed. He's a mover in his sleep, so would wake himself up hitting the sides of the bassinet.

During the day I usually bring him upstairs to his crib for naps, but if I'm not sure he'll be asleep for long I just pop him in his swing (turned off usually) and he'll nap well in there. He doesn't like being in the swing while awake and hanging out because it's too reclined and he can't look around, but it's nice a cozy for naps. He also hangs out (awake) on his play mat a lot.

  • We use a rock and play. And it was only like $50. Very small. That's what we take on vacation. He uses the swing down stairs and we only use the pack and play downstairs as a changing station
  • DS spends most of his time in his little lamb seat which I keep on our dining room table. They're only around $50 and really comfy. He sleeps in it a lot. I have a pack-n-play downstairs as well because it has the changing table attached and sometimes he just wants to lay flat, but he doesn't fall alseep in there for long, ever.

  • DD sleeps in an arm reach mini cosleeper in our room. You can usually find good deals on used ones on Craigslist. DD1 slept in it for 8months before we moved her to the crib and she's 85th percentile in height and weight.

  • Our bedroom is too small for the PNP DS slept in at our old house, so DD is in this $37 bassinet we got at Walmart. We added this mattress since the pad that comes with the bassinet is pretty wimpy. DD sleeps fine in it.

This. Found ours in Craigslist for super cheap and it was practically brand new. She's 11 weeks, 24 inches and has plenty of room. I plan on keeping her in it till she's too big.
  • Arms reach co sleeper here also. We had to move the sides up after she almost got stuck in it sideways. She has stopped going sideways though. That was a weird week.

Ok, please don't judge.... My guy sleeps in the bed.... Yes, right beside me. It's just me because my hubby works midnights. We have a firm mattress and no pillows or blankets are beside him. I put him horizontal with his head not facing me. He refuses to sleep anywhere else. I always start with the bassinet I have even tried the one that attaches to the side of the bed and he's not having it. I was one of those who swore up and down I would never do this. Ugh.... Why won't he sleep anywhere else??? I even put his bassinet on an incline. He use to sleep In the pp bassinet part but has out grown it.... :(

No judgment. Ds sometimes snoozea in the am with us.

Is your mattress similar to his bassinet one? Ds likes our mattress (it's cashier but firm) so we got him a mattress (he's on the floor on a mattress) that's similar in cushy Ness and nice soft cotton sheets. Maybe it's the feel?
  • Thanks for the great ideas. I like the idea of a mini co-sleeper or a smaller bassinet. I just hate to spend a lot on something he will out grow quickly. I'll have to do some bargen hunting!
I have been bringing him into bed with us in the morning but then I don't sleep well.

  • Sleeps in his crib at night. Will move him to his swing in our room when I am showering and getting ready for work. In the evening we use the pnp in our living room if he naps.

Zero judgement. Our gal falls asleep on our mattress and then I move her to the co sleeper where she'll sleep till about 5am but after that feeding she won't go back to the co sleeper so in the bed it is!

I like the idea about the mattress type/softer sheets, I might try that out. We have a memory foam mattress topper and maybe she likes how it hugs her body.

I can't get her to sleep in her crib at all and like I said the co sleeper only works for half the night.
  • We have a fisher price bassinet that is portable. We love it and LO has been sleeping great in it since we brought her home from the hospital! We will be moving her to her crib once we get a baby monitor.
