December 2014 Moms

anyone else still waiting for a bountiful bosom?

So, as much as I've tried to convince myself I may be off the itty-bitty-titty-committee, I think I'm in denial.
I'm up *maybe* half a cup size. Still wearing my normal bra and definitely not spilling over... I was kinda looking forward to it, as silly as it sounds.
Have they reached max capacity at this stage in pregnancy? Or is there still hope? I know my husband is secretly waiting for the day they runneth over.
This sounds pathetic, but I'm honestly a little worried they are not big enough to BF with. Is that even a real thing? (Honest but possibly stupid question)
19 weeks, btdubs.

  • 21 weeks here, I've always had big boobs, but this pregnancy has decided to only grow my right boob. So I have a lopsided chest, one Dcup, one DD cup :( I look really weird.

I totally feel your pain! My pre-pregnancy bigger boob definitely seems to have grown more than the smaller one. :(
  • I wish that were my problem! Just this weekend my boobs grew so much. I went from my cute little 32DD breasts(sounds big but it's about the same as a 34C) to a whopping 36 E!! They are so uncomfortable and just.....ugly. My nipple and areola have gotten dark and very big as well. And the veins, I look like a road map! Be thankful for the itty bitty titties!!
  • Im majorly lopsided here too....
*Said goodbye to our angel baby July 30. 2014. only had him for 21 weeks in my belly, missing him every day*
  • @angeladowns1‌ I'm like a small B and have noticed they swelled and bit and got firmer in a way but I'm still 17 weeks. So who knows. In regards to not being able to BF, I think you'll be just fine! My sister use to say she was a -A in cup size lol and she nursed her first two for almost the year!

You are nowhere near done. Just wait until your milk comes in. Holy boobs. You'll be in shock when you see what a little milk can do for your girls. It's like the 8th wonder of the world.

Edited to add: Mine keep growing, so you may get a little bigger during pregnancy even.

  • I started at a 32B or 34A and mine have definitely gotten bigger, but I am still able to wear my same bras no problem.  I have the same irrational fear about them being too small to breast feed, but I have other friends who assure me they'll be fine.

  • Im very average in the boob area but not that long ago i was complaining that mine hadnt grown much (they got huge right away last pregnancy). In the last few weeks they have exploded! Im almost 20 weeks so I probably didnt see much action until week 17. Weird.
  • You don't need big boobs to successfully bf. I had a friend that started off as an A, went to barely a B when her milk came in, and BF her LO for almost 2yrs.

    Oh I hope so!!
  • They will continue to grow, and will get even bigger after the baby comes! As far as size, it's not the size of your breasts that determines how successful breastfeeding will be. Sometimes having an abundance makes it harder...my baby was a preemie and had a LOT to work with, and it took a while to get the hang of it.

  • Mine never grew during my last pregnancy and they haven't grown during this one either. My rib cage got bigger but never went up a cup size.

  • My boobs are absolutely insane right now and I know they're only going to get bigger. I can still rock a couple of my bras, but I have a feeling I will need to do some bra shopping in the near future.
  • I really wish that my boobs got bigger during pregnancy, but they only go up about half a cup size. I'm a solid C cup which seem to be to small right now, but tried on a D yesterday and there was so much extra fabric. There's still plenty of time for them to get bigger though.

During my first two pregnancies, I went up about two cup sizes during the third tri and then one more postpartum.Wait until the end of the second tri and third tri (when you gain more weight).

Honestly, the huge pregnancy boobs totally suck. They hurt all the time and it is a total pain to find a bra that fits and is comfortable.

  • No change in size here! I am up a cup size from my first pregnancy to a C-cup. Also, please don't worry about your cup size having anything to do with breastfeeding success!

This is so true- my mother has always had an AA cup, went to a B after having my twin sister and I, and we were breast fed for a full year.

And me with the cow boobs- my first was under 5lbs until he was 3 months old and it was a struggle for him to nurse because of the size. AND I have never been able to nurse "hands free" My poor kids would suffocate.

Mine took no time to jump to a DDD. Take mine please.
Edit: You are only missing out on more back pain!
  • I had this concern as well; mine finally grew noticeably just a couple of weeks ago. I'm also 19 wks along. I was surprised last weekend when I put on a dress and had cleavage! It was a new sensation for this 34B. I'm in the same bras, but they are definitely snug. Who knows, maybe I was wearing a size too big all along! Sigh. Anyway, try not to worry--as much as everyone repeats it, it's true, all these pregnancy details play out differently for each person.
