Trying to Get Pregnant

Noobie Introduction...

I hate introducing myself because I never know what it say. So I am 28 years old and been with my partner for almost 10 years and we are on our first month of trying to conceive again. I got pregnant in Oct of 2013, but it was an etopic pregnancy and had to deal with some issues stemming from the ectopic pregnancy. I am currently one my 3rd day of taking clomid and started using OPKs to watch my surge. I am so very nervous and worried that I will have another ectopic pregnancy, but I have been trying not to dwell on that fear or not stress out, which is more difficult than people think! I am looking for some support as my partner and I go through this journey because while we have friends and family to lean on, they do not understand the difficulties of infertility as all of them have been popping out babies left and right and this it is as easy as "don't think about it and it will happen." (Most of my friends are in a heterosexual relationships and have no idea what it really takes to get pregnant in a same-sex relationship.)

So that is a little about me. Hopefully this board will be a good place to let out some of frustrations and joys.

  • Thank you everyone for the warm wishes. I am not on CD 8 and by this weekend, my doctor wants us to inseminate on this Saturday, so this week is going to be long and nerve wrecking. :)
  • Hello I'm also a newbie, I'm 30 & have a very similar story to tabitha. We are 1 week post our first IUI... Just getting to the point where I'm going a bit stir crazy waiting for that 2 week mark to test for pregancy . For me it's been nerve wrecking full of " what ifs" I completely understand your frustration with other people ( 3 of my 4 bridesmaids are pregnant & due within weeks of each other ) I'm ecstatic for them but it reinforces the difficulty we have been having. People who have not experienced the hardships of trying to get pregnant try to understand , but they really can't relate. Best of luck to you & your partner . I highly suggest a mini project for the next 2 weeks to help distract you !
  • @Coalean, oh the TWW is dreadful! You try to throw yourself into anything and everything to not get stressed, but it never helps. I've decided that for my next two weeks, I am going to marathon a lot of shows and just go to work, but I know I will still think about it every minute. Good luck and baby dust to you!

  • Thank you @BabyCowbell and @YogiKC0519. Good luck to both of you! :)

  • Welcome.  TTC after a loss can be a scary and uncertain adventure.  I commend you for bravely moving forward.  I agree with @Coalean, something to keep yourself REALLY busy over the next couple weeks might be helpful, but I've never been able to follow that advice.  Good luck to you and your partner.

Thank you. I can definitely  say that I am extremely nervous that I will miscarry again, but I know I have to be strong and just trust the universe. Thankfully, I know plenty of women who miscarried their first child and was able to have successful pregnancies afterward. I am just sprinkling myself with baby dust every chance I get...lol.
