TTC After a Loss

***Healthy Living Check-In***

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between.
We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!
Re: ***Healthy Living Check-In***
  • Hi Friends!  My mental health day and weekend was really great... it was nice to unplug and get a few things done.
    The Good: I feel relaxed and refreshed after the weekend.. DH and I both got massages on Saturday which was glorious. He'd never had one and he loved it. I hadn't had one in 2 years and it was definitely welcome!
    The Bad: I undid my massage work by doing Insanity yesterday and today - lol
    The Proud: We didn't follow diets to a T over the weekend, but I managed to be down overall and also went and exchanged some Medium shirts for smalls. Amazing.
    Your Plan: This week I've got a few random meetings that will throw my lunch workouts for a loop... plan is to do Insanity Sunday - Friday with PiYo DVD on Wed am (instead of Cardio recovery) and Saturday am as well. Plan to walk with DH at night for at least 30 minutes and hope to do 2 days of strength training at lunch. Beyond that - eating what I plan to and hopefully eating less chocolate. I've been filling my calories at night with chocolate and am trying to get away from that. Plan is to have frozen green grapes instead :-)
    Question of the week --- Have you ever gotten a massage before? If so, when was your last one and how often do you get them? Yes - see note above... got one saturday and I already want another.
    Hi @MrsG80inTN‌ your mental health day sounds great!
    The good: on track with challenges still.
    The bad: my schedule this week is a disaster so working out is going to be hard
    The proud - 100 squats yesterday!!
    The plan - do my challenges and hopefully get a run in. Try to stay somewhat reasonable with food but that's going to be tough
    QOTW: 3 yrs ago we got a couples massage in Hawaii on our honeymoon. I'm just not sure anything else can live up to that
  • Hey Everyone! So i was feeling very rebellious on Friday and didn't check in! I stalked everyone, but for reasons completely unknown to me decided not to respond to anyone or add my own check in. Quite silly because last week was a good week for me! Anyway...sorry for going awol but hope you will have me back ;)
    The Good: My house his spotless! H and I were feeling summer fever and spot cleaned out house! I also made it to the gym with him Saturday but didn't feel half as good after that workout as I did after we shampooed all our carpets!
    The Bad: We celebrated the deep cleaning with Dion's Pizza. So incredibly good, but so incredibly unhealthy!! I haven't had deep dish pizza in SO many months!
    The Proud: Last week was a really good week! The weather cooperated so I started doing three miles by running a couple blocks, walking a block, running a couple block, etc. I am SO not a runner but I liked the method! In addition I spend 90 minutes doing weight training with H on Saturday and we followed up by deep cleaning Sat afternoon and most of Sunday!
    Your Plan: An hour of swimming laps, six hours of walk/running, one day of weights!
    **kids mentioned, not mine**Question of the week --- Have you ever gotten a massage before? If so, when was your last one and how often do you get them? When I was a live-in Nanny I traveled with the family every six to eight weeks. When we traveled we would be gone anywhere from fourteen to twenty days and I would work EVERY single day for eight to ten hours. The first day we got back home they would hire their house keeper to take my kids for the day and They would book me in at the spa for a hour private hot tub, a massage, and a mani/pedi. It was GLORIOUS! Finally have a year and a half I realized how much they took advantage of me and were essentially paying me off with spa days every time I was way overworked. When I left the position the perks went away too. H and I have gotten couples massages a few times over the past eleven years. Pretty sure the last one was our one year anniversary three years ago!
  • The Good: Hung out with a friend all weekend and supported her in a difficult time of her life.
    The Bad: Ate out last night When I should have cooked. Also for the past 2 weeks I'm feeling achy and just tired all the time. Add in major cramps from AF and I'm just grumpy.
    The Proud: Still ride my bike and drank my water though.
    Your Plan: Healthy eating, 2L of water a day, ride bike and start doing some handstands for fun/strength training. (I used to be a gymnast.)
    Question of the week --- Have you ever gotten a massage before? If so, when was your last one and how often do you get them? 2 and would love to do it again if it wasn't so expensive. I had one in 2008 at my bffs bachelorette party. I had "mini" massage at a shower for a friend where all the ladies got 3 mini services. I had a neck massage, foot rub, and hand wax. I think a massage would be awesome right now... my whole body is sore and I have no idea why.
    ALL WELCOME!
  • @denamaree – we all need to go awol occasionally J  YAY for a clean house and a good week last week.  Sounds like you got some great workouts in last week and like you have a good plan ahead!
    @megdowntheshore – I’m going in for a monitoring appt tomorrow too (for medicated/timed cycle)… we can be monitoring buddies.  I eat too much junk when my in-laws visit too.  Keep it up with the workouts though – you’ve got this.
    @momentomori – CD1 is always hard to handle friend. Combine that with an EDD.  You are in my thoughts this week.  Skipping your run and a little junk food won’t kill ya – just get back on the wagon when you can.  Hugs.  Your steps have been awesome.  Don’t forget that fitbit and MFP sync together – I find the feature pretty fun though today it’s whacked out and somehow has double counted my food and fitbit thinks I’ve eaten over 3000 calories.  Uh, no.
    @backstreetpixie – sorry you haven’t been feeling well – that sucks.  I’m impressed you used to be a gymnast – I was a wannabe, but could never get to even doing a handspring J  I was really good at cartwheels and back bends though.
  • Hi Ladies!  Quick post and run here...work has me super stressed out today.   :(  I'm doing everything in my power to keep my healthy mindset.  Several of my coworkers just went to get ice cream and I declined their invitation.
    THE GOOD:  I went for a 3.5 mile run on Saturday and I stayed on track with my meals last week and over the weekend.
    THE BAD:  I tweaked my lower back somehow, I think doing squats.  I did my squats after my run and I know my form was not good for most of them since I was tired from my run.  Definitely paying for it now.  Also bad, I somehow gained 5 lbs overnight.  How does that even happen?!
    THE PROUD:  I'm not eating ice cream right now like my coworkers.
    THE PLAN:  Not sure what my plan is this week due to my back.  Taking things a day at a time right now.  Thankfully we are in an excessive heat advisory right now, so I'm not missing out on good weather opportunities for running/walking.
    QOTW:  I've only had one professional massage in my life and I loved it.  Wish I could get one every week, but I can't justify the cost at this time.
    @momentomori‌ the last day of the challenge is 145 squats
    @MrsKush1014‌ oh no! I hope your back is ok. As for the 5 lbs - do you have a digital scale? Mine changes depending on the spot on my floor. Guess my floor isn't level. Otherwise - water weight?
  • @mrsKush1014 - sorry work is stressful. I totally get that.  We'll be here when it's not so stressful.  I'm super proud of you for foregoing the ice cream.  way to go lady!!!  As for the scale - you didn't gain 5# overnight... I assure you.  It's likely water weight and I think you'll see changes in the next few days especially if you're feeling any soreness.
  • @Km380 I do have a digital and always put it on the same tile. :-( And I'm hoping two days of rest will help my back, I want to get back to that challenge!
    @MrsG80inTN‌ I'm really hoping it is just water weight. And thanks, with the stress today I really wanted some ice cream, but after seeing the scale this morning I'm reminded that I don't need it!
    @momentomori‌ So many ((hugs)) for your EDD.
    The Bad: I ate soooo bad for dinner last night- seafood manicotti and I even had tiramisu for dessert. It was worth it though!
    The Proud: I decided to freeze my leftovers from last night's dinner instead of eating them today ;)
    Your Plan: Keep at it- get to the gym 4 times a week, keep an eye on calories
    Question of the week --- Have you ever gotten a massage before? If so, when was your last one and how often do you get them? Yes, my last one was in February. I don't get them often enough!!!
  • This is more of a TP, but not as serious as the TP threads have been lately so I'll post it here.  My coworker, one of the same ones who tried to get me to go get ice cream with them yesterday, just came back from the store waving Snickers Ice Cream bars in my face.  Really?  My response yesterday was "No thanks, I need to lose weight."  And I really like Snickers Ice Cream bars.   :-S
    Yeah I was only intermediate level, (I started late I was 9 when I started) I I never got past handsprings. lol. But I did it for 6 years... I was the handstand queen though. No one could stay up longer then me. Now I can only stay up for a few seconds. Makes me sad lol. But If I can find a place to practice (A wall without pictures on it lol) Then maybe I can build my core up again to hold it longer. =)
  • Good job, @MrsKush1014‌! Way to stay strong two days in a row! Any idea why your coworker is a food-pusher?
    No clue.  :-??  My only guess is that she wants to feel better about eating the crap she brings into the office.  She is ALWAYS bringing in random candy and chocolate.  The ice cream treats is a new one.  What really gets me is that she's been talking about wanting to lose weight and get in shape, etc.  Um...ice cream treats are not going to help you get there, sweetie.  She's a good friend, but doesn't listen to my pleas to keep junk out of the office.  We work in a small office (there are only 10 of us) and she's the only one who brings candy and treats in.  And 90% of the time she puts it on our common table that sits right in between our cubes.  It's really hard to resist when I'm stressed out, but I'm holding strong this week...*sigh* it's only Tuesday.  I WILL TRIUMPH!
