Weaning from breastfeeding

Can you please share your experiences with weaning from breastfeeding? I stopped nursing my DD 2 weeks ago (18mo. old) and have been feeling weird. Lots of anxiety, some dizzy feelings, nausea, headaches, etc. Looking for a light at the end of the tunnel. I would love to hear your story, especially if its similar! Thanks for sharing.

I weaned while pregnant, and I think my supply had tanked by the time DS finally weaned.  I didn't notice any changes - probably because anything I felt I probably just attributed to the pregnancy woes.

I do know it is completely normal to feel depressed, hormonal, tired, sick, etc when you wean as your body adjusts to no longer producing milk and your hormones regulate.  I would hope that within another two to three weeks, you should start feeling better again.  Good luck.

  • I was down to one feeding a day. Just before bed. I wish I would've done every other night for a few weeks and gradually gone to zero but that wasn't how it happened.

There is a lot of information online about it but I was looking for first hand experiences.

Could you be pregnant? I never had any of those issues with both of my kids. I also gradually weaned. However I am still leaking like crazy! Its been 2 weeks. But I had that with my son too. You might talk to your Dr especially if you are needing BC. Good luck!
