A dumb vent about DH UPDATE: We are at Urgent Care

This morning as we were getting in the car DS apparently accidentally poked DH in the eye. DH immediately started flushing his eye out and was blinking a lot. Don't get me wrong, getting poked in the eye hurts. Then he drove to Disneyland and was rubbing his eye the whole time. He said it felt like there was something in his eye and that he sometimes has a problem with that eye where it hurts and feels like there is something poking him. What? I've never once heard him mention this. So we get to Disneyland and he's basically squinting and rubbing the eye that was poked. I asked numerous times whether we needed to just go home. He said no. We stopped and got eye drops, which he used. Every single ride, he kept his eyes closed. Why he didn't just close the poked eye, I have no idea. He said it was too hard to keep both eyes open. We did 7 rides like this. I wanted so badly to tell him to suck it up. I drove home, even though he insisted he was fine. Yes, because I'm going to let the guy who can't open his eyes drive home on a crowded CA freeway....This is worse than a man cold. And so help me if he stays up late playing video games. I will seriously lose it. DS and I had fun, and DH said he had fun even though he literally closed his eyes on every ride. Ugh.

I convinced him to go to Urgent Care. He is pissed about it, but I refuse to leave DS with him unable to open his eyes/function normally and I will have to tomorrow. So here we are. Wish us luck.

  • When I was 1, I scratched my dad's eye.  I think he went to the eye doctor and got some antibiotics, but it just got worse.  He went to the ER and they said he was very close to losing his eye.  Yikes.

  • Did his cornea get scratched? That happened to my mom once when one of my sisters was a baby and her fingernail caught her eye. Not discounting the man-eye-ailment, but if it's still bugging him, he might actually want to get it checked out. And hey, if he does get it checked out and it's nothing then he needs to stop complaining...win win.:)

  • Oh, I totally agree. I have told him to go to urgent care if it's really that painful. He insists he doesn't need to. I sent him two articles about cornea scratches and will tell him again. I got poked in the eye by DS a couple of weeks ago, I know it hurts. But I was still able to function.

  • @mandymack Oh, don't be! We are pass holders until September, so cutting our day short was NBD. Thanks though!

His eye seems to be a bit better today. Hope it completely heals soon!

  • My DH got his cornea scratched by DD over 2 years ago and STILL has problems.  It's nothing to be taken lightly, it hurts like hell! His entire 4th of July weekend was ruined because of a flare up with his eye.  He went to urgent care 3 times that weekend.  He ended up with tons of different eye drops, as well as antibiotics.  He has a flare up every 3 months or so, but this last one was the worst yet.  Don't be surprised if it doesn't ever completely heal!
