Heh. Yes ma'am. Did you just start? It's a huge time suck when you first start playing. Lots of fun though-and good exercise if you play on foot. Enlightened or resistance?
Yes, a few days ago! I'm up to level 3 but haven't had much time to play.
Enlightened because thats what my Alterna-moms group is.
Last night there was a huge field covering most of Atlanta so I made up an excuse to get out of the house and go play, haha.
So do you have to like touch the portal to hack it or just get close? There are like three really close to my office that I could probably get at lunch.
One more question - do you have to leave the app running all the time or can you kill it when you're not going to be playing? I don't want it to be connected all the time because data plan. lol
Dear lord no. Kill it ands turn off your GPS to conserve your battery.
Haha, good to know. I did kill it this morning because I'm at work and don't really like for my phone to make random noises while I'm in my cube.
I can't wait to give it a try, though. I have some time between work and choir rehearsal tonight - I may go looking for some portals. (also, I chose Enlightened too.)

The first few levels, I would just get near it and hack it. That way you're stockpiling items and you're really too low to do anything else, anyway.
Also, if you long press the hack button, you get a glyph minigame which if you win, can give you bonus items.
Ha ha, it was in beta for a while before it was released out for everyone and it JUST became available on ios within the last two weeks.
You do need to be within reach of the portal to hack/deploy however you don't need to be in the center of the portal. Your scanner will tell you when you're within distance.
This^ I often drive by hack. I give the phone to my kid and he presses the hack button while we drive by, haha.
