XP: How long until AF

I'm having a hard time searching for the answer to this so please excuse me if it's been said 100+ times:

I miscarried last Sunday and found my beta was at a 9 on Monday. I went in for my follow-up beta this morning. I don't remember and wasn't really tracking my last MC to know how long after beta's were neg that AF showed. Does anyone know how long it should take?

Welcome and I'm sorry for your loss ((hugs)). Unfortunately there's no standard for when periods return after a loss, some women have very low betas immediately after a loss and still wait weeks or even a month or more for their period, while others have had still-high betas that drop super quickly and get their first post-loss period within a week. In the end, it'll come when it comes, hopefully sooner rather than later for you.

Mine showed two weeks-ish after my negative beta. But my levels only ever got up to 277 (ectopic)

It really, really depends. It took my betas almost 10 weeks to go down to below 5 after my last loss. Two days after I got the blood draw where I found out my beta was at 3.75, I got AF. But my situation is not really "normal." I found out that I have retained tissue from my D&C.

Thanks ladies! I really didn't bleed long or heavy with this mc so I'm worried about tissue remaining for too long. Plus the way the RN at my OBs office talked she made it seem like once my numbers were negative my body would almost immediately expel what was left.

My beta went from 8 one week to 6 the week after that. It was then 3 the next week and I didn't go back in for any more beta draws. Two weeks later I got my first AF post D&C. IE for me it was five weeks after I was at 8 before I got my first AF.

Hugs. So sorry you're going through this. Mine took 5 weeks post-surgery. At the time of surgery, my beta was in the 5100s. It dropped to the 300s about four days post-surgery and took 3 weeks to go down to <2. I got my first AF post-loss two weeks after that. But, it took a little while longer for my cycle to regulate and get back on track.

I got mine 5 weeks (almost to the day) after my medicated miscarriage. My levels were at ~10,000 at my last draw, but they weren't tracked down. Actually, when I mentioned it to my OB, he seemed surprised that I even asked about it, so I think that's just something that they don't generally do here.

My OB said that I should have expected AF between 4-6 weeks after the D&C and to call him if it was still MIA at 6 weeks. He ended up putting me on prometrium (progesterone) to kick start it. AF showed up 8 weeks after the D&C. The wait was killing us.
