Trouble TTC

Thinking about you ladies

It's pretty boring over here. 5dpo as of Monday and not feeling confident about this cycle, but I am feeling at peace about it. So either way all is okay! Ready to start my new workout and meal plan. I'm motivated now, let's see how long that lasts :P. I've been researching the benefits of going paleo. I want to make sure I study up enough before I make a commitment to a diet plan like that.

But I'm always thinking about you ladies and rooting for you all. Even though I don't post a lot here and I mostly lurk to check in on you all. Just been enjoying time with DH for now. Working on being a good mommy to my beautiful fur baby.

Just wanted to say you ladies are all so strong and awesome :) have a great day today

Edit: are any of you ladies on the paleo diet? Pros and cons from real life people?

Re: Thinking about you ladies

The Doctor: Go to your room! I mean it. I am very, very angry with you. I'm very, very cross. Go... To... Your... Room!
[mask creatures turn and go back to their beds]
The Doctor: [sighing] I'm really glad that worked. Those would have been terrible last words.

    what is the paleo diet?

"The Paleo Diet, the world’s healthiest diet, is based upon the fundamental concept that the optimal diet is the one to which we are genetically adapted."
    https://www.thepaleodiet.com/about-the-paleo-diet/

I'm trying to cut out all fast food, and processed foods in general. We rarely eat fast food or processed but I want it gone. I don't want to sound like some kind of paleo diet advocate though lol
  • Paleo is also called the caveman diet.  Caveman being a hunter and gatherer, not a farmer.  So you mostly eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, and meat.

It's too hard to not eat grains.  I love my bread and rice.

Oh goodness I know. I've never been someone who craves carbs but I do think they pair nicely with my favorite foods.

    Thank you!
  • Good luck with your diet! I've tried everything out there but not sure what paleo is. Currently, I work out at home and the gym and use my fitness pal to track my food. I love it.

That's so strange. I seriously thought paleo was more popular. I wonder if it's a regional thing? I'm surrounded by so many people who eat paleo so maybe it's really common in my area.

But I use to use the lose it app, and I loved it because it would allow me to make a calorie budget for myself so I could eat whatever I wanted in moderation and I lost 10 pounds. But it's just so hard now because when I cook food at home it's hard to actually count the calories accurately

  • @mjcbwlbaby, I've also considered doing Paleo...even if it is just for 30 days.  The grain products are what keep me from jumping in.  I don't eat too much bread, but I use a lot of flour and crackers (Triscuits, Wheat Thins, etc) and dairy.  I love dairy.  Many days I will just eat cheese and Triscuits for lunch.

Where are you from?  I work in Chicago and live in the suburbs and Paleo is a big deal here too.

I freaking LOVEEEE cheese. That's my biggest concern right now lol.
I live in washington. People here are very hipster-y and all natural and healthy. Ew. Lol

LoL...darn healthy people!  I work in an office where 4 people do Paleo challenges (30 day stints of clean eating), one is training for the Chicago Triathlon, one does Crossfit, and several do random 5k/15k races.  I just don't get it!  I don't look out of shape, but I could never keep up with these people.

I have heard of the Whole30 program that @viola27 mentioned.  I've heard it is a good way to introduce yourself and the structured challenge might be motivating.  And I do agree, avocados are just amazing!!

I highly highly highly recommend you try the Whole30 program. You can find all the information on the website and if you're all nerdy about nutritional science, like me, you can read the book "It Starts with Food" by Doug and Melissa Hartwig. It is a great stepping stone to Paleo or clean eating in general and it's only a 30 day commitment. The hardest part for me was the dairy, but once you eliminate certain foods, you gain monumental appreciation for others (e.g. avocados are from the gods)!

Thank you! I will check that out for sure. I've never been a huge fan of avocados but I really want to start training myself to like other things that I don't like now. More veggies, less processed stuff.

lol my dream is to run a marathon one day. However, at the moment I can barely even run half a mile, if that. So that's a little far off in the distance. My problem with diet and excercise is that I get soooo unmotivated so fast! It's ridiculous. I cannot keep myself motivated. It's frustrating because the only thing keeping me from doing this is myself.

  • you're so sweet! it's ppl like you that are the reason i find such comfort in this board.
i'm glad i'm not the only one who looks forward to starting workouts when ttw is up ;)
as for paleo...i have friends who have been doing it for over a year and swear by it. my own opinion is that limiting leads to binging and makes it hard to go back to certain foods. plus i'm a huge foodie so i would never want to not be able to try different foods. I did, however, do a great 10 day detox that was basically following paleo guidelines and it was wonderful! i had been eating a lot of junk for a while and wanted to reboot my system to get back to a clean slate and get back to eating healthy like i usually do. maybe you could start with something like that and see how you like it?

lol I need something to look forward to if I don't get my BFP this month. I just need something to follow to get my eating habits in check. I've been gaining weight like crazy and I can't find out why. I don't eat that much and I don't eat that unhealthy and I definitely get more exercise than I did before

  • @mjcbwlbaby‌ I think we are IUI cycle buddies! I had my IUI last Wednesday so I'm 8dpiui today! Like you, I'm also not feeling confident in this cycle but definitely at peace with it.
At the end of June I decided to start working out and training regularly. It makes me feel so much better and is such a stress reliever!! As far as the Paleo diet goes...I could never do it! I love sugars and carbs so it would be very hard to do! Quite a few of my friends are doing it and I found it to be a pretty big inconvenience haha!
I've read online when TTC you should be careful when dieting and to make sure your body is getting the necessary nutrients to conceive! Good luck this cycle and keep me
updated on your symptoms...maybe well both get a BFP!!!
