Trouble TTC

Newb Question

I'm still new to 3T, so I apologize if this has been discussed a million times, but is there a reason that there isn't a 2WW/Crazy Train check-in on this board? There seems to be a lot of "these are my symptoms" kind of posts that would fit well in a thread like that.

Again, I apologize if this has been hashed out before, but those threads are pretty useful for containing those types of posts on TTGP and TTCAL, so I was surprised to see that this board doesn't have a daily thread like that.

Re: Newb Question

  • I don't think there is a 2ww on this board but I'm not sure why! Maye because I think everyone is in different points in their cycles with different treatments? I think there are weekly check ins for IUI/IVF and 3T in general. Not sure, sorry I'm no help!

@catlover790, people are at different points in their cycles, some with treatments, on the other boards too. It's a daily check-in, so those who are at that point in their cycles can post about their symptoms, frustrations, being a POAS-aholic, etc.  It keeps those kinds of posts contained so that the board isn't full of posts about peoples' "symptoms" and BFNs.

There might be a very valid reason why there isn't a thread like that here, though, so I'm just curious.

@KathrynG116, no need to apologize. There have been quite a few posts on the board that have been similar, so that's what sparked my question.

  • I think your question was great!  I think it would be beneficial for the board but maybe there's a reason why.  Hopefully the mods can chime in when they come back!

    Thanks. :)

I had forgotten that they were away, but hopefully they'll chime in when they get the chance. I can't imagine I'm the first one to ask this question, so my guess is that there's probably a reason that I'm not considering.

The idea has been thrown around.. but once you start talking IF treatments, DPO (aka 2ww) turns into I'm benched or dpiui and so on. It's just not something that everyone could participate in/relate to the same way that they could before pursuing treatments, hence the weekly check ins for those who are benched or doing IUI or IVF. Bottom line: IF is simply a whole new ballgame.

Yeah, I get that. I guess I'm just not used to all of the symptoms and BFN-related posts. I feel like I've typed, "Progesterone causes your symptoms after O whether you're pregnant or not" at least four or five times this weekend.

  • If it's something everyone has agreed wouldn't work here, that's fine. I guess I'll just have to get used to looking past those types of posts. Honestly, I just have very little patience for, "I have cramps and sore boobs, but the tests are negative. What does that mean?" at this point in the process.

  • @sugar4bri, I just started lurking here a few weeks ago, and only have been posting here for just over a week, so maybe it is something that's just happening more recently.

@Iputketchuponketchup, I think that's the difference. Those types of posts tend to get a much more friendly response here than they do on TTGP or TTCAL.

I haven't been here long by any means but we tend to "check in" on whatever thread you are a part of through out the week. So, if you're doing IUIs you can update on the Weekly IUI check in through out your week if you need to (find cycle buddies, cry about hot flashes, or share in endless hope). I think we do it this way because the 2ww is different depending on what meds you're on and the protocol you're following. Not to mention we're kind of old hands at this now and most of us know the symptoms of pregnancy are being emulated by the hormones we oh-so-willingly ingest. Damn you, sore boobs/light cramps/mood swings/nausea.
@viola27, That's what I expected when I made my way over to this board. I guess that's why I've been so surprised by a lot of the threads/comments.

@BethKate2 I will say, it's really (REALLY) difficult to experience those artificial hormones for the first time. Especially imo the HCG and Progesterone. Testing out the HCG trigger is the biggest TTC mind fuck I've experienced yet and the progesterone made my boobs swell and entire cup size. The 3T 2ww is a whole different beast and she will not be tamed.
Oh, I'm sure. I haven't experienced that yet myself, but I can imagine that it's a total mind fuck.
