Breastfeeding

7 month old -how often nursing?

DD1 nursed nonstop, and preferred milk to food so I feel like I am in new territory here.  DD2 isn't wanting to nurse as often.  She was nursing every 3 hours until bed at 6 and then waking 1-2 times at night.  Now she is wanting to nurse less in the day.

Re: 7 month old -how often nursing?

  • I'm a full-time M-F mama and my DD is 7 months. She's eating breastmilk every 3 hours on a schedule everyday since she started daycare at 12 weeks. She dropped her MOTN feed at 6 months. I'm wondering if she'll ever space out her feedings, but so far that's not happening. She started solids at 6 months.

  • My 7 month old has been drinking less milk during the day. Now we've been out and about this weekend during the day with way too much going on around him for him to focus long enough to nurse. But even during this last week he came home from MILs with a full 4th bottle. He's on the tail end of a cold but I also think it's because he is becoming more interested in good during the day. My only solution to this is making his bottles at MILs a little bigger to make sure he is getting a decent amount

  • My six month old DS eats 5 times a day since about 4 months old. Sleeps 8 pm to about 7 am. He is fat. His older brother did the same.

  • Thank so much.  It makes me nervous that she doesn't eat as often as DD1 did.  I keep worrying about my supply.
  • My LO seems to nurse less during the day now. But I don't really keep track of how often he eats. I nurse on demand. He's 7 months today.
