I've always used more natural products but now with DD, I try to only use water & vinegar and just recently started adding some essential oils to make it smell nice. I still use lysol wipes to disinfect counters, toilets, etc.
What do you use??
Also - does anyone know if you can use a steam mop on laminate? I'm thinking of getting one but not sure if it was warp our floors.
@cputman200 I recently started getting into them as well, I use lemon essential oil for my cleaner and it's a natural antibacterial and antifungal. You can use essential oils for anything Inuit I use them for cleaning and for diffusers or air fresheners. Lavender is a great one for an air freshened, it smells amazing and has great benefits when inhaled. I'm sure you could google it and find different benefits for all types if essential oils. Just make sure you buy 100% pure essential oils or else it won't have the same benefits. Their expensive though, that's the only downfall.
@Legitsince86 they are very expensive ($10 for lemon and $16 for lavender) and they are tiny. However, they last such a long time. I'm not even half way through my lemon and I bought it a few months ago. For a huge spray bottle, I only use 15 drops so it takes a while to get through it. For air fresheners, I use some jasmine rice and mix it with 5 drops of lavender oil and put that in ramekins all around the house and it smells great and again, takes a long time to get through! They're so worth it, IMHO.
I use some regular chemicals and clorox wipes. But I also use a Dawn, vinegar mixture for my showers and clean other things with it as well. I use baking soda some too. And I do think a steamer would warp your floors probably too much moisture for them. I use vinegar and water on my hard woods.
I use the Method brand cleaners OR for showers and bathroom/floor I like the Attitude brand. Both brands are plant based cleaners I believe. I do really like vinegar too though I usually add orange peels right into the spray bottle it smells better than the essential oils. ( I put the oil in if I don't have orange or lemons)
@burrberrymum that's a good idea! Even when I put in 15 drops, it doesn't smell as lemony as I'd like. Never even thought of putting peels. Where do you buy method brand? I've looked for it everywhere and can't find anything except the toilet bowl cleaner.
I use vinigar to mop (all wood floors) but I hate that my house smells like a pickle after. I use vinigar for wiping things down too, except for the kitchen counter and cutting board which I spray with hydrogen peroxide. The bathroom gets soft scrub though because nothing else seems to work as well to scrub away the mould and mildew.

I buy mine from Well.ca because it shows all the products that are natural and vegan and you can read the ingredients and what not before buying! And I agree that even with 15 drops of essential oil didn't make much of a difference, try the peels you'll love it!
For the oils, my neighbor is getting in to them and I was interested but skeptical. I would love to hear more opinions before I jump on the band wagon.
I use 7th generation stuff because I have contact dermatitis and have reactions to any products with perfumes or preservatives (which is in all things) and they are plant based cleaners. We also use bleach cleaners for bathrooms and stuff but rinse surfaces really well.

Everyone has had good tips on cleaners so I'll skip that. I will just say that we recently were looking at getting laminate flooring installed and the flooring company owner said using a steam mop on laminate is a huge no no. Light mist and rag/dust mop only. I never knew that before.
For toilet seats we use the wipes but for everything else, we use Method and cleaning with white washcloths. We used to use vinegar but my husband hates the smell and I do love the smell of the lavender Method. We've also used the Honest Company cleaner and like it as well.
Re: What do you use for cleaners?
And i use a shark vacuum for the carpet and a wet swifter mop for the linoleum kitchen.
I am just getting introduced to essential oils. Do you use many of them? And for what purpose?
