S/O Preschool...

What does it cost for you guys? I'm looking into getting Scarlett into school for the fall for a 2 or 3 day a week program. I've called two places so far, and one costs 2 1/2 times the other one. It's crazy.

I know it will vary depending on the area, but what do you guys pay for a half day, half week program?

Re: S/O Preschool...

  • DD2 is going to a two day, 9a-2p class. It's $195/month. I also looked into a different school that was $280 for three days, 9-2. I have to pack her lunch.

  • The montessori schools here cost $700/month for 5 mornings/week (you must attend every day) with extra if you drop off before 9 or pick up after 11:30.  Other preschools in our area are about $250/month for two mornings from 9-11:30.  I am really surprised b/c we live in a not very expensive area, but I guess the university here influences education prices.
  • $400/month for Montessori. She will go 5 days a week for 3hrs.

  • I think we're paying $180 for 3 days a week for 2.5 hours.  It's pretty much mid range of what we pay in my area.  I really would have liked to get DS2 in a really cool preschool program at a nature center, but it was almost double the cost.

  • Last year my boys went to a park district preschool- 2.5 class was $86 each- and that was out of district tuition (we live in a two block area that is not in a park district). It was 2 days a week for 2 hours and you packed a lunch. The 3s class is something like $115 a month.

This year my boys are going to the school district preschool.  It is 3 days a week for 2.5 hours and $120 each.

  • Thanks guys...I just kind of wanted a general idea. The first one I called was a Montessori school and I almost dropped the phone when she told me $460 a month. The others have been more reasonable though.
  • Same area as @gastro - astronomical.

We can't afford it right now so, we are waiting another year to send Nolan so I can save up the entire year's tuition. And we are on two waitlists for local church programs that are about half the cost of traditional Preschools.

  • $400 a month for two full days a month. During the school year we pay $560 a month for five full days. We bring our own lunch but they provide morning and afternoon snack.

We looked at one Montessori that wanted $800 a month for full time. Not happening.
