Part time nursing and menstrual cycle

My lo is 15 months. I got my first period with her when she was 13 month, one about 30 days later. And I am now waiting for my third it's been 32 days. Lo goes to daycare ft and I nurse in the evenings, during the night first thing in the am and weekends. 2 weeks ago I was on vacation and she was teething so I nurses a lot more. I also had mastitis once as well. My question is- is it normal once your period returns for it to be irregular if your still nursing?

I don't think I am pregnant- dh and I attempted sex a few weeks back but we were interrupted by a waking baby and did not finished.

  • Yep, normal.  When my periods started at 14 months pp, I immediately had two or three cycles that were 28 days each.  Then, they slowly started to get shorter and shorter until my cycles were 20-22 days long.  Thankfully, they started to lengthen out again and were back to 28 days before I ended up pregnant with my second.

  • Yep mine are wonky since I introduced solids at 6 months. That said...pregnancy has been known to happen even without the grand finish.

  • I did take a test and it was negative... Hopefully my period will show up soon.
  • I wouldn't worry too much, mine have really been all over the place. Everywhere from 25-40 day cycles, which is really annoying!

  • normal. mine are still kind of irregular- my cycles are usually around 33-35 days, but some have been as short as 29 or as long as 39.
  • Thanks- That is good to know
