Have you done professional pics of your LO?

So I haven't had professional pics done of DS, but plan to have a photographer at his first birthday party (only bc we are friends with a professional photographer, though). So I was wondering, am I the only one? Anyone plan to have a photographer at the first birthday?

I had professional pics done in the hospital (just the people who come around and do them through the hospital), newborn, 3 mos, 6 mos, will this upcoming week for 9 mos, and again at 1 year and at his first birthday party.

Like @afolske106‌, I had professional photos taken in the hospital but they were just "meh," and way too damn expensive.

I sat Emerson in on my SIL's sitting with my nephew for a few shots, but that's it.

tl;dr Once. But I plan to delegate photo-taking to someone at his first birthday.

Yes, but my BFF is a photographer. I would have def had newborn ones done because I think newborns are hard to shoot and I love having pictures of its as a new family. I'm good with my DSLR so I probably wouldn't do many professional ones outside of newborn ones if they weren't free.

That's for sure! We ordered one 8x10 collage and it was freaking $30!!

Professional pics done more than once. The lady who did my maternity pictures did our family summer pictures and will do her first birthday. We also had the photographer come around in the hospital.

Just once. My friend is graduating with a bachelors in photography and is building her portfolio. She did my maternity shoot and a newborn shoot. I was thinking of asking her to take a family photo shoot when DS is around a year because I want some nice shots of all three of us, but I would have more luck pulling all of DH's teeth out than getting him to stand in front of a camera.

We got newborn photos done. They were cute and all, but they were a gift. Otherwise, my husband would have most likely taken them. We don't really plan on getting any others done.

We did maternity, newborn, 3 month, and 6 month so far. Her 9 month pictures are scheduled at the end of July and I am currently looking into booking her 1 year and family photo sessions too. I'm a crazy picture lady and I can't help myself!

One of our best friends does all of our pics. We do yearly ones with him and the occasional special occasion/family pics. He won't do DD2's again until her 1 year pics.

Our hospital had a service that did in room professional photo shoots so we did that for newborn pictures. We had professional photos done for our family Christmas photos at 2 months. We did 6 and 9 month photos of LO. We will be doing plenty more because our friend's sister is a photographer and is moving in to town. She will do them for cheap because it is only a hobby and not her profession.

I always check Groupon and sites like that for photo packages. We also use Portrait Innovations for our holiday photos because they do a $9.99 package and you get to pick a portrait and you get 45+ different sized prints. It is great for holiday cards.

I'm the only one who has done any photo shoots for Harper. My mom tries to get some of the three of us occasionally but personally I've done her newborn, 3 & 6 month shoots. I'm planning on doing her 9 month tomorrow

Expensive and absolutely worth it, our kids change so much do quickly. I have a photographer-turned-friend (our wedding photog) who gives me a steep steep discount, but is still higher than the average. I pay 500/session, when her normal sessions are 400/sitting fee, plus 20/photo you want digitally. She gives us all 200ish digital for free. She's also gifted us both kids newborn sessions, so that's awesome.

I put none with no plans to do them, but my husband was a photographer when he was in the military so I have good pics of Fiona but nothing formal. My aunt is also a photographer and takes great shots at our family events.

The way cell phones take such fantastic pictures these days, I don't think it's always necessary. You're not a turd.

I haven't even done anything with our wedding photos so it kind of silly really. Everyone here has the cutest photos, i'm just jealous.

We had shots done in the hospital and we tried jcpenny at Christmas time. Both times we felt really rushed and the pictures were just meh. Finally we got professional shots done by @carriet2018‌'s sister and they were beautiful. Pricey but I love them. It was really hard to get a good shot of two babies at once so we needed someone who would take plenty of time. I don't know when we'll do more. We can't really afford it for awhile but I'd like to get a family shot sometime.

Pictures done 4 different times and photographer hired for her party today.

I've only paid for her newborn and Christmas pics. The other two sessions were free and her birthday only cost me $75 and that comes with a CD of cake smash and her actual party and 2 8x10s of whichever two pictures we want.

I don't know anyone here who has ever had prof pics done really. The only ones I ever see are of bumpies so I'm not sure what the deal is. That being said I have a free session from our wedding photographers that I want the kids to do. I was just waiting for Skye to be able to sit on her own. I guess I need to get on that since she's pulling up to stand.

Edit: I see prof wedding pics, not family.

Yes. We've done every three months. Just had their 9 month pics taken. Granted my cousin is a professional photographer so the newborn and 6 month session's we didn't have to pay for.

Our 5 year anniversary is right after their 1 year birthday so we're having our wedding photographer do the birthday and family pics. Then that will be it for awhile.

We did Christmas pictures at JC Penney & 6 month pics at the photo place in Belk. I had coupons both times & spent less than $50 each time. It was worth it!

We've had the 3, 6, 9 month ones done at Target using a Groupon. They're ok to document the changes, but I don't love them. I'm going to call @carriet2018‌ 's sister to see if she can do the 1 year photos. She did our Easter pictures and I'm in love with them!
