Can I get through airport security with pouches in my bag?

In my experience baby food and milk is fine in carry ons when you have your baby with you. They will swab it w/the bomb detecting wipes if you can't open it (and you can't because then they need to be refrigerated. They swabbed G's cup of milk last time too.
Y'know, just in case you had invented the applesauce bomb....

  • You have to claim them when they look at your ticket/ID, if you don't they can take them. Security may also ask to open/test them. I brought a collapsible cooler and zip locks to get ice on the other side of security so everything stayed useable.

  • When I traveled with DS as a toddler I was worried about getting stuff through security and was prepared to just toss stuff they wouldn't let through. They let me bring a thermos of almond milk, pouches, open bottle of cough syrup, etc. TSA couldn't be nicer or more helpful especially since I was traveling alone. In fact, I've never had a really negative experience flying and some of my best trips have been when I've been with my kids.

  • We made it through! I just put the pouches and our desitin in a ziplock and mentioned it to the TSA agent before putting my stuff on the conveyor belt. I don't think they even swabbed any of it and certainly didn't open it. They were very nice. Thanks for the advice!
