Pregnant after a Loss

3rd time a charm?

This is my 3 time pregnant. I had a miscarriage in 2012 & 2013 oddly at the same time both years.
I'm only 4 weeks pregnant. Just wondering how to stay positive? Without anxiety taking over.
I'm a lot healthier this time & continue walking - just hope it will be enough!
Thanks for reading!

  • Hi. Congrats and welcome! I found the mantras pinned to the top of the board extremely helpful. I hope you have an uneventful and joyous nine months!

  • This is my third time too after two losses and that's what I keep telling myself "third time is a charm"
It is hard to stay positive sometimes but as each week passes it will get a little easier. Just celebrate each good visit and live in the moment that's my best advice. ((Hugs))

  •     I gave myself and LO small goals like, we'll make it to our 4th beta check, then we'll make it to our first US, then we'll make it to our heartbeat check.  It made first tri a lot more bearable to have these tiny celebrations every week or two.  Every time we got good results, I's cry, then go out for ice cream, breakfast, or to coffee with my sister.  It was really helpful to me, and seemed more manageable than just focusing on the big picture!

    All ALers welcome!
  • I've had lots of losses and one thing that really helps me get through it is to take it each day at a time and make small milestones for yourself. Thinking of the pregnancy in it's entirety can feel really overwhelming. Once you start to get good scans and experience positive things with the pregnancy I think that some confidence in the pregnancy will come but of course being PGAL is so hard and what you are feeling right now is really normal and a part of being PGAL. The first trimester I tried to keep myself busy with plans so I didn't have tons of time to think too much about it. Getting a doppler has been amazing and has helped me get through appointments. I have a Sonoline B and started to use it as early as 9 weeks but of course that is really early. Feeling movement now helps a ton too.

Remember that this pregnancy is different and just because it ended sadly before doesn't mean it will again. Congrats to you and welcome!

  • Thank you all so very much! So very sweet of you all!
I noticed that if I keep busy that's the best thing. The hardest is at night time. That's when te brain does not shut off.
It's super overwhelming to think of the big picture so I'm doing my best to do small goals.
