GIF/Siggy help

I've stayed away from gifs that aren't mine for so long because they intimidate me so much.  So today I tried to branch out, telling myself I could totally be successful at putting an awesome gif in my siggy. Wrong.

In my signature settings it shows up, but it doesn't on the actual message boards.  Will it only show up in future posts or something? I didn't think that was how it worked.  WTH am I doing wrong? I got it from giphy and used the link under the "embed" option.  I was having a wicked hard time using my ipad, and broke out the old laptop to finish the job....somewhat.

Also, what sites to you guys use?  I haven't found any I really love, but maybe that's because I've been using the ipad.  They're all super slow to load and hard to navigate on there.

*edit*- I guess I answered my own question of whether it only shows up in future posts (as this is a future post).  Not my brightest moment there.  But still, what gives?
